Thank you! Turns out it was more than that, the motor had broken loose, control board DOA and the pump was bad. Ended up just replacing the whole washer - repair cost was over $900 for parts and labor!

    Catriver,

I have the same error - F06 appears about halfway thru a cycle. I followed your instructions to Dragon. Connections are all good, and motor ohms are at 6.1 for all three combinations. I ran the diagnostic I found in the diagnostic manual I found inside the washer cabinet. Only problems were during C04, C05, C07 and C08. During C04 the drum is supposed to rotate clockwise at wash speed, it does but only for one rotation or so. During C05 the drum is supposed to rotate clockwise at wash speed and it does not rotate at all, even after waiting a few minutes for it to do so, I had to manually advance the program. During C07 the drum is supposed to rotate counterclockwise at 35-90 rpm within 15 seconds and it does not rotate at all. During C08, the drum is supposed to rotate counterclockwise at maximum speed and doesn't rotate at all.

I have run the diagnostic with and without the drive belt in place with the same results.

My question is this: Is this indicative of a MCU problem or a motor problem?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Dragon, drop the bottom panel by removing the 3 screws on the bottom, pull down and off. On the right side attached to the bottom of the door switch (on the inside) is a teardrop release tab. Pull down on it and the door will open. The F06 code is a motor tachometer error. The control is unable to detect the motor speed. While you have the panel off, check the harness that goes from the motor to the motor control board. The motor control board is the one on the bottom. Reseat the harness's for a good connection. If you can use a meter, check the motor windings, pins 1 to 2, 2 to 3 and 1 to 3 should read approx 6 ohms. Next, take the top off the washer by removing the 3 screws in back and sliding the top off toward the back. The main control board is in back. Make sure all the harness's are seated good. The third harnes from the right is the motor control power, reseat it. On the left side of the board, last harness toward the back is the serial communication link. Reseat it. On the motor control board on the bottom the communication link is the one toward the bottom, the center one is the motor connector and the top one is the power supply. If this doesn't solve the problem and your motor ohms out. I would tend to believe that the motor control board is the problem. Catriver..post back.

Fault code f26

This error code indicates that the door needs to be opened and closed.

The F26 code may appear the first time you try to use the washer. Open and close the door to clear the display.

The F26 code may also appear if the washer has run three cycles without the door being opened. Open and close the door to clear the display.

If opening and closing the door does not remove the error display, press Pause/Off or Pause/Cancel twice.

If Pause/Off or Pause/Cancel does not work:

  1. Unplug the washer or disconnect the power for one minute.
  2. Plug in the washer or reconnect the power.
  3. Re-select the cycle and press Start.

My maytag clothes washer Bravo quiet series 300, keeps flashing a Sd error code. Or it may be 5d

What does the Sd code mean?

This code indicates that excessive detergent suds occurred during the cycle. The washer will not be able to spin out water with the excess suds. When "Sd" is displayed, the washer automatically extends the rinse time to remove the excess suds. During this time, the washer pauses the wash action and adds water for additional rinsing. This pause allows the bubbles in the suds to break. This process is necessary and may occur several times to eliminate the suds.

Concentrated detergents labeled 2x and higher will require a small amount of detergent based on load size. Always follow the manufacturer's recommendations.

Use only HE High Efficiency detergent for BravosTM washers.

Is "Sd" displayed and the wash cycle dial is flashing?

This indicates the washer was not able to clear all the excess suds from the washer. Re-select your desired cycle using cold water. Press Start/Pause. Do not add detergent.

Is "Sd" displayed and the wash cycle dial is not flashing?

If "Sd" is displayed and the wash cycle dial is not flashing, allow the machine to continue running, even if it appears that nothing is happening. When "Sd" is displayed, the washer automatically extends the rinse time to remove the excess suds. During this time, the wash action will pause to allow the bubbles in the suds to break, and the washer will add water for better rinsing. This rinsing process is necessary and may occur several times to eliminate the suds.

Is the drain hose kinked or clogged?

Make sure that the drain hose is not kinked or clogged. Straighten the hose for adequate water flow. Remove any blockage from the drain hose, drainpipe or utility sink. Use the U-shaped drain hose form on the drain hose, and secure the drain hose.

To remove the error display, press Power/Cancel or Pause/Cancel once.

If Power/Cancel or Pause/Cancel does not work:

  1. Unplug the washer or disconnect the power for one minute.
  2. Plug in the washer or reconnect the power.
  3. Re-select the cycle and press Start/Pause.

NOTE: If the error remains on the display, and all of the other questions above have been checked, call for service.

Code 06

In the manual for a Kenmore washer the instruction for an F06 code (electrical problem) is :

Select PAUSE/CANCEL twice to cancel the cycle. Select DRAIN/SPIN if there is excessive water in the washer. Re-select cycle and press START.

After that, you might try unplugging then plugging it in again.

I've had this same problem and had a service man come in. The reason for the colde is an over-gunked up machine due to the directions for amount of soap to use on he bottles being incorrect.

Run the washer empty several timres with just vinegar in place of the soap and then repeat with bleach. I've been told this will take care of the problem, but it may take many cycles before the codes will stop appearing.

Also, from then on, only use 3 tablespoons, yes 3 tablespoons or 1 ounce of detergent per wash. The 1/4 cup that most he detergent bottles tell us to use is way too much.
