Power Cycle it sequentially. Means to says that it has to be in order. Once you turn off everything... Make sure to turn on the first connection from the wall first, and then the next... and then the next...

Modem, Router, Hub, PC.

Wait 10-15 secs interval on each peripheral before turning on the next.

Thanks.

The instructions i gave you usually works, but if it really doesn't you need to flush the DNS or manually release IP address and refresh it since 169.x.x.x means to say that you'e not getting any connection at all.

Please follow the instructions carefully and make sure that you turn off everything and wait for 10-15 secs before turning it back on in sequential order (power cycle).

    Thanks

Cant find the RESET button on the SB5102

the Surfboards do not have a reset button. The only sure way to reset it is to disconnect the power and any other cables for at least 12 hours to allow the board to completely discharge.

I cant access my modem settings because i cant remember the password or user name. Ive been into them once about 3 weeks ago and im thinking i may of changed the password? What can i possibly do?

I work for AT&T and whenever there's an issue that a member has with regard to his/her username and/or password, the member has an option to call AT&T for free to have their password reset and/or the username given to them so they may have a chance to remember the password.

Internet connection with arris modem does not go any farther than local

Check if:
  • the power cable is plugged in firmly in both ends?
  • reset the cable modem (use the reset button at the back of the modem)
If all led's stay off, and you are 100% sure that there is electricity on the powersocket, then there must be a technical problem. Contact UPC
Switch off the stand-by button, and you will be online again .
If the power-led is on and the online-led is blinking, then the stand-by button is active.

If the cable-led is continuosly on, then there is no data to/from the cable interface. Control if the cable is firmly connected
Reset the cable modem
If, after reset, there is still no data transfer, contact UPC.
If the Ethernet-led is off , then the ethernet link is disconnected.
Check if the PC or hub is firmly connected and/or powered

Ethernet link connected, but no traffic. Check if there is no problem with the hub, or check if there is no firewall blocking the traffic. Check also the tcp/ip settings

How can i connect an additional pc to my rca dcm245 cable modem? i have an ethernet hub.

Hi there.
What you have to do is plug in the Ethernet hub, run the Ethernet cable (RJ45) from the modem to the "internet in" or "internet" socket on the hub, it will the one which is separated from the others.
Then connect an ethernet cable in port 1 to your first computer and a cable from port 2 to your second computer and so on.
If you experience connection problems just pull power from the modem for 30 seconds, plug it back in wait a minute and reconnect.
If you would need further assistance please post back.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Yes i want to find out if a cable modem will work with your dsl phone internet service?

No.

A cable-modem connects with a coax-cable to the cable-company's network, but a DSL-modem connects with telephone-cable to the telephone-company's network.
