Question about Maytag Neptune MDE5500AY Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Timer problems I have a Maytag Neptune MDE5500AYW and it keeps reseting the timer to 18 minutes on wrinkle release. I have tried setting manual timer but it resets itself. I have unpluged the unit and it has not solved the problem. When you turn it off it comes back on to the same setting and beeps. I have to unplug it to keep it from beepting. Is this a control board problem?

My maytag neptune MDE5500AYW will not stop unless it is unplugged

if you have it on time dry and it counts down but won't shut off you most likely have a bad computer board, part number 33003028 and it's around 180 dollars.on older machines it would be a problem with the timer not going to off but you have a computer board in your machine and it takes the place of the timer and other functions, just about everything runs through the computer board.

Periodically, the display will change to the wrinkle release mode from sensor dry mode (all by itself), and the timer will show 18 minutes remaining. If I switch it back to sensor dry mode, the display...

Hello & Welcome to FixYa
If you have already tried cleaning the vent then the problem is with the Thermal fuse. When the thermal fuse goes bad it cannot be reset and replacing it is recommended repair. It is located on the blower wheel housing inside the rear panel to the exhaust duct. You can test it for continuity before replacing, if that is fine the problem is either the door switch or the control board. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

OK, your control board and LED are integrated, so you will need to just replace the control board. I would try a hard reset before replacing the board. Pull the plug or, shut down the appropriate breaker switch for 5 minutes. Re apply power after the 5 minutes are up. if you continue to experience this fault, replace the control board asap.

Dryer keeps resetting

This may be a problem that only a repairman can fix. There may be an electronic board that has to be replaced.

Switches to wrinkle release and changes to 18 on display.

Check the vent coming out the back. It may be plugged up not alowwing proper airflow. You might just unhook it for one load to see if that is the problem.

Problem when drying gets to 1 minute mark

This is happening when you selected the wrinkle prevent option or you set it to wrinkle release cycle.what it does is it is tumbling with no heat to release the wrinkle in the clothing. This is normal. It could also be normal part of drying in "regular" cycle
