Usually the turning longer than usual means the laser is having a hard time reading the disc. See if the same disc will work in another cd player, if its not the disc try cleaning the lens with a lens cleaning disc. ER (error) usually means a> the disc is unreadable or b> the laser is dirty or inoperable
