The Encore ENHI-W2 configured with WEP does not connect to a client with 802.11n enabled. It gets stuck at aquiring IP address.

If you are referring to the password to get in to the router page, it is admin for both username and password field.

As far as I know, Windows XP OS works much better with WEP encryption rather than WPA. Changing the security encryption of your router might resolve your issue but I would leave the decision to you if you really want to change it.

I want to change the security type of my wifi from WPA2-personal to WEP or pre-shared key(PSK) but i dont know how to do it

Hey there! First of all you will need to go into your Router administration panel, to do this, plug in a LAN cable from one of the available ports on the router into your PC. Then open up your browser and type
You will get a login prompt, usually the username is admin and the password is admin but if that doesn't work look at the bottom of your Router for the specific details.
Once you are there go to the "Wireless" configuration tab, under Security change WPA2-Personal to WEP or PSK. After that, unplug your cable from your PC and restart your router.
Have fun :)

My wireless is connected to my laptop but every time I reboot, I have to put the WEP key in again before it will connect again. I am using XP.

There should be an option to "remember this password" or click the "connect automatically" checkbox. That should save your password and make the network you selected your primary.
If you don't see these options, you need to update your version of windows XP with SP3 and further updates

Rather than using WEP which is not completely secure try using WPA-PSK. When selecting WPA, there will be only one password box to open. From there you can enter the password you want to use and save the configuration. If you want to use WEP, when the page with 4 encryption keys opens up, go to the box for the first key and enter the password there. If needed select the shared key option and save the configuration.

Please go in to your router and change the wireless setting from WPA2-PSK to WEP. Ansd then try to connect your laptop.
To windows after you change setting to WEP
(XP bottom right hand side you have system tray in that you have a wireless sign click on it. It ask for the password which you will change put that password click connect)
For laptop also same in case it not work then
(window icon>control panel>network and sharing center>wireless connection>properties>put the password click connect (then it will check out the wireless signal after sometime you will'be able to connect).
Hope this will resolve your issue.

Connecting a laptop to internet via wireless lynksys router.

ok make sure your router is set up connect to your router and check under the wireless settings make sure you have made a custom name for your wireless network and have some network encryption enabled for it i prefer wpa personal over wep as wep can be cracked easily so after you make up a password be sure to remember it you'll need it later, so after all those settings are saved close that out and goto your laptop open up the wireless network connections and click scan after your network comes up double click it and you should be prompted for a password, enter the password you set up on the router and click connect, also windows will sometimes ask you to verify the password after you have entered the password you will hit connect after a short period of time it should connect to your router and internet is yours :) enjoy

Wireless security

the WEP password is located on the label on the botom of your router. The WEP password prevents unotherize conecting to the network. If some one for example like your naber see your network and conects to but put in the wrong WEP they will not be able to use your internet.

How can i put a connection password on my Encore IEEE 802.11g ?

go to -
Start -> Run -> type CMD and press enter
when the box opens type
IPCONFIG/ALL and press enter
scroll down to the header Connection and look for Default Gateway
Copy this number down - make sure you write it down correctly
now type exit and press enter

open your web browser and type that number into the address bar and press enter
this will take you to your routers setup
enter your password if prompted. if you never set one the defsult Name=ADMIN and default password=ADMIN. if this doesn't work you may have to reset your router by holding in the reset button for thirty seconds and reconnecting to with the same i.p. address you used before.

go to Authentication Security
you can choose WEP or WPA i strongly urge you to use WPA. WEP is a very weak security type

I would try using the hex value generated from your password by your WEP enabled router instead of the password itself. Windows has always been a little funny with WEP and I've always had better luck using the hex value my router generates.

When you set your security, try using WEP personal as this is the most compatible with your things. Also, it is a good idea to put your computers on the network before you set your password.
