How to turn on my built in ebcam

Many Toshiba laptops, including Satellite, Portege and Qosmio models, feature built-in Chicony-brand webcams. The Chicony webcam can be problematic, especially when running a 32-bit version of Windows Vista. Microsoft has released an update that will correct problems with starting the webcam after terminating "Sleep" mode. Users may also have to install the appropriate driver or webcam software to correct webcam problems.
Dark or Black Webcam Image Problems b> Toshiba laptop owners may have problems with the webcam displaying as dark or completely black a few seconds after the initial image appears or immediately after engaging the webcam. Users should ensure that the webcam indicator light is engaged. If not, users should run the "Camera Assistant Software" to turn on the webcam. Low light can cause the webcam to power off and to display a dark image. Users can tweak the light and contrast by manually increasing the lighting in the room or by turning on "Night Mode." If these steps do not correct the dark image problem, users may have to reset the webcam itself, reinstall the "Camera Assistant" software. b> Webcam Problems After Terminating Sleep Mode b> Toshiba laptop owners with Windows Vista (any 32-bit edition) installed and the Chicony webcam may have problems starting the webcam after restoring the laptop from "Sleep" mode. "Sleep" mode powers down a number of hardware components in the laptop. The webcam is capable of entering a non-operating system-induced sleep mode when it is not used for an extended period of time. After the user engages Windows "Sleep" mode and wakes the laptop, the webcam may give error messages such as "Locked by another application." This webcam problem can be corrected by installing a Windows Hotfix, which is also included in Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1). Webcam Problems After Upgrading Windows Vista
Toshiba Satellite laptop owners may opt to use the Microsoft Anytime Upgrade to upgrade to Vista Ultimate. After doing so, the Chicony webcam may stop working and report a "Please turn on the camera" error message. Users can correct this problem by reinstalling the Chicony driver. b> Webcam Problems on Linux b> Linux users who own Toshiba laptops with the Chicony webcam should install the Linux UVC Driver to make the webcam functional. The webcam may not work without this driver. b> Grainy or Blurry Webcam Image b> The Chicony webcam can produce grainy or blurry images if the user does not remove the protective film that covers the external webcam interface.
http://download.cnet.com/2000-20_4.html on the home page you should see a search tab just type in what you are looking for IE: webcam name webcam driver you might have to try a few times to get it right software if you dont have the driver you will need to download one here rather doing a driver hunt which can take hours http://download.cnet.com/slimdrivers-free/3000-18513_4-75279940.html Windows XP/Vista/7/8 It might take some time being a freeware driver solution note: it will find all of your outdated drivers this is a free driver solutions this will automatically search for and find the correct driver you will have to update every driver individually once you update you might be asked whether you want to restart or make a system restore point click no to both of these then continue updating each driver free then restart once all of the drivers have been updated Some webcams and programs require additional software, although that should be installed with the webcam if things are right. But is does not harm to check if your Java, Flash and Quicktime software are installed and up to date. But certainly check your DirectX software, since all video applications, including webcams, use DirectX for video processing. Try downloading the latest DirectX version and install it (Windows XP: DirectX 9.0c - Windows Vista: DirectX 10). http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Which-version-of-DirectX-is-on-your-computer Hope this helps

How do i turn on my webcam the built in micropone works and i have youcam option but my webcam wont turn on. Help PLease!

Try rebooting the computer. Also, try updating the driver for the webcam. For Windows 7 and Vista click on start and type device manager. For Windows XP click start, control panel, system, hardware tab, and device manager. Find the webcam driver and right click on it and select update driver. Say yes to search online.

I have two problems with my HP compaq 6830s running VIsta business SP2 1) My inbuilt web cam stopped to work, and i have tried to uninstall and reinstall drivers with no luck. 2)The wireless card,...

If you upgrade your operating system like from windows xp to windows vista, you need to install new hardware driver for your computer like for LAN, webcam, WAN and others because the old driver is only compatible with the old operating system and not with VISTA operating system. Solution would are, download webcam and WAN driver for Windows Vista and install it into your computer. Don't just upgrade your computer because the configuration is not the same with the old operating system. If problem still exist, just upgrade the service pack from 2 to 3. There is available install for upgrading the service pack of each operating system. and surely all your hardwares will function.

My built in webcam stopped working. I do not have drivers or anything for it. How can i get it to work again?

Try downloading and installing the WEBcam driver.
You can download the drivers from ASUS WEB site. Select your model motherboard/computer/laptop, and make sure you select the Windows XP or Vista version of the drivers that matches your Windows operating system. Click on this link: -

Need drivers webcam for windows 7

Currently there aren't any drivers for your computer with Windows 7. Dell only offers drivers for your computer with Windows XP or Windows Vista. I would try using the Creative Labs Webcam Driver they have for Vista. Since many things about Vista & 7 are similar, often the drivers for Vista will work with Windows 7. Go to dell.com, enter the model of your computer, choose Vista as your operating system, then go to Input Devices, choose the Creative Webcam and download the driver to your desktop (I suggest against using Dell's Download Manager, just download via your browser like you usually would). Then install the driver. With any luck your will be up and running with your webcam.

My webcam is not working .

I 'm not sure what operating system you installed, so i'm giving you the webcam driver download link for Windows Vista.

Windows Vista :
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software11/COL24260/mp-62602-3/setup.exe

If you are running Windows XP then I'm sorry to let you know that, your notebook manufacturer (HP) doesn't have support for your Webcam Driver. It won't work in windows XP.

Good Luck.

How do i turn on the built in webcam in the advent

Make sure you have correct driver installed properly. It dpends on the Operating System you are using as well. Like in Vista or Windows 7 you are likely to get some webcam drivers preloaded, whereas in XP you may or may not see the usb video device in the my computer panel. Also, if your webcam requires some special other applications to use it then check with your vendor to provide the same.

You will need adriver for the webcam. Go to this site: http://blogntech.com/download-acer-emachine-e520-xp-vista-driver.html There will be two lists of Web Camera drivers. The first is for WIndows XP, the second is for Vista. Install the driver for your operating system, and the webcam should work. I hope this helps, Yannick.

Hi,
I think ur laptop webcam driver not installed properly. If ur laptop have windows vista operating system then do these steps.
Goto Start - Programs - Recovery Manager - Recovery Manager. In that recovery manager, click on next. Its shows the Software reinstallation page.Click on next button two times. Its shows the software lists.Select the webcam software and click on next button. After reinstallation completed , u restart laptop and check it.
If ur laptop have windows XP operating system then u uninstall the webcam software through Add/Remove program and restart it.After restarting ,Reinstall the web cam software and check it. If u doesnt have webcam drivers then u go for nearest service centre and install it.
