Do you know now the password for your wireless??

If no then on the PC/laptop that it was orginally installed-click on start and run and type cmd which will open up command prompt.

Type in the black box -ipconfig...

Whatever the IP address is for your default gateway type it in Internet explorer which will open up your wireless router settings and you should be able to open up wireless security and find out what your password is..

When this is done disconnect from your wireless on the dell laptop and after disconnecting connect to your wireless again and enter your password and see if that fixes things.

Thanks

Sophia

Cannot connect to wireless internet

It sounds like a problem I had. While traveling, my laptop connected with a WIFI network with the same name as my home network. It was my son's. He gave me his password and I entered it on both my machine and my wife's. When I got home I had the same problem. I tried everything including re-installing the WIreless drivers a few times. I could cable connect but every time I tried wireless, it told me to enter a password then came back with "SORRY CHARLIE"
Called my son and he said probably the wireless password was written to my registry and my laptop was telling me to give the password. As my router was expecting a different password it wouldn't connect. The cable connection did not check the registry since it uses a different driver set.
The registry entry for the router password must be deleted. The only way I knew how was to re-install my operating system. This is throwing the baby with the bathwater. I am sure someone out there knows how to find and erase a Register entry.

First of all you may try to check the adapter settings on your computer.

Start>control panel>network and sharing center>adapter settings>check status of broadband(should be connected)

If not right click on broadband connetio and click on connect if still showing as disconnected

You may also check internet option settings.
open IE>tools]nternet options?>connection tab>tick on never dial a connection.
Click on LAN settings tick on automatically detect settings>ok

You may also check for the if the driver for your wireless broadand is working by checking it on device manager.

Try to check if broadband is working on the other computer.

you said the laptop is connected to the network.
when you try to connect to the wireless network on the i-touch or i-phone, do you see your network.
if your network is secured then you must enter the correct password for the wireless. If you are not sure about the wireless key or the password then you will need to open the router set up page and check the wireless settings.
you can also try to upgrade the firmware ( software) of the router.

Connecting a laptop to internet via wireless lynksys router.

ok make sure your router is set up connect to your router and check under the wireless settings make sure you have made a custom name for your wireless network and have some network encryption enabled for it i prefer wpa personal over wep as wep can be cracked easily so after you make up a password be sure to remember it you'll need it later, so after all those settings are saved close that out and goto your laptop open up the wireless network connections and click scan after your network comes up double click it and you should be prompted for a password, enter the password you set up on the router and click connect, also windows will sometimes ask you to verify the password after you have entered the password you will hit connect after a short period of time it should connect to your router and internet is yours :) enjoy

Can't remember the Network key for our home wireless setup

Try logging into the router by opening you web browser and in the address bar type 192.168.0.1 , if you are prompted for a username and password enter them and click ok (username usually "admin" password usually "root" if they havn't been changed.
Go to the wireless tab and see if it is displayed in there, if it isnt then make a new one and save it but by doing this all other devices connected to it will need the new key putting in but at least you can now connect your new laptop and surf away.

hope this helps :o)

Can't get laptop to connect via wireless, works fine hard wired

Are you using any encryption on the wireless side? If so, and you incorrectly type the password, that would happen. You may also want to try updating the firmware on that router. From what I was able to find, this appears to be the latest available: http://support.us.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R96135&formatcnt=1&libid=0&fileid=125402 It's also possible that the wireless interface on that router is starting to go. Especially since you said the directly wired connections work fine. The wireless interface would be separate from the Ethernet, so it's possible for that to be dying out while the other is still ok. That does appear to be a slightly older model router, so if it came down to it you could think about replacing it for something newer.
