Yes you can use the CT45 flash, with a flash sycnh cord or with a pentax dedicated hotshoe SCA adapter if you want it to operate in TTL mode! kinda expensive

SOURCE: can i use metz 45 ct 1 with pentax k 20 d

The trigger voltage of Metz 45-CT1 Ser No above 534 000 are under7V, that is absolutely safe. But below this Ser No that can be anywhere around 200. This not necessarily means the flash will damage the camera, but consult the user's manual.
If you were intended to ask how to connect the flash to the K20 D, then you can use a hotshoe-to-PC adapter.

Does Metz 45 CL1 fwork with digital Nikon d90

It should woek in auto mode as there is no iTTL. BUt the trigger voltage may be higher than 6volts so it may fry your camera, Best to use a radio tgrigger for off camera operation or a WEIN SafeSynch Hot shoe adapter.

This is probably THE single most common failure among digital cameras. There's a halfway chance of fixing it yourself, described here: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

Metz 45CL-4 not firing consistently... Hi, Have a problem with a Metz 45CL-4 flashgun. I may have damaged the circuit by rapid charging from an external NiMh pack whilst trying to form the main capacitor....

Hi Guys!
I have had the same problem on CT-1 s and CT-5s.
In both cases the flash cable (called PC synch cable) was to blame. If flash fires correctly with the test button on the handle, then cleaning the cable contacts with contact cleaner spray seems to be the best first step.

Gerard

External Flash for 3000Z

I have tried a couple of external flashes on the 3000Z. It is my understanding from reading various Internet posts (and I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong) that, other than triggering the flash to go off, there is no communication between the external flash in the hot shoe of the 3000Z and the 3000Z itself. Settings need to be made manually in the manual mode to set the f-stop and the aperture to get good exposures. The Metz flashes are expensive. Most have opted to use less expensive flashes such as the Vivitar 283/383, or a Sunpak, or even a "Wal-mart" flash. I chose an inexpensive bounce flash with a secondary "fill-in" flash to get rid of the shadows sometimes seen with indoor bounce flash pics. I purchased the Phoenix 82ZBDA Multi-dedicated twin flash from Porter's Photo Catalogue for $37.95. This flash works fine, but is not that powerful (GN 79 ). If you need a more powerful flash, you might consider the Vivitar 383.
