Normal 0 I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it will feed through the printer. The reason for this is in some cases I have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there over time.
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps. Bud

The folder is creasing paper on the edge being fed in - right in the middle. How can we correct that?

Use different paper. Make sure it is dry and flat. You don't mention make and model, but if it is a rear vertical feed, make sure you have a lot of paper and that it is new and not been hanging in the slot for a long time. Also make sure that the side guides are not too tight a fit. You will see a rubber roller that feeds the paper in, clean that with a solution of dish liquid and water. Let it dry naturally as it makes it more sticky to push the paper.

Paper keeps creasing during printing. have moved guides out as far as they go

Creasing is usually caused by pare skewing so guides must be as tight as possible against the paper if it's still a problem you will need a new fuser a unit more than likely

Lexmark c540n creasing paper

First, check the quality of the paper you are using. The fuser will heat the paper, it tends to give a wrinkled effect on the paper. Try a new ream of good quality paper, and if it still does the same, the fuser itself might be causing the issue and you might need to replace it. HP2420 - all printing functions OK. Printer is creasing the paper. Problem has only just begun.

Remove connection after shut down, then make sure that the paper is not jammed or the mechanism is not tight.
Make sure by manual movements with the hand that the drives are smooth. make sure that there is no dirt in the rollers and set back. Now make a test to check.

Printer is chewing/ripping/creasing paper.

This is most likely cased by a dirty paper feed path so it will need cleaning and blowing out. Make sure that all the internal paper guides and separators are free of obstruction. Make sure that the fuser area is clean that the internal paper guides are ll in place and operate freely. Also clean it with a vacuum with a soft haired brush tool to avoid any damage. Also fan the paper before using it and do not overload the print paper tray. Also check that the pick up rollers are not work or contaminated with dirt / debris etc. Also make sure that the print tray is not overloaded and make sure that the paper is not to tightly held by the tray side guide.

Also check the rear panel and make sure that all the guides and rollers are moveable and not distorted in any way.

Also check the paper pick up for wear as this will cause additional pages to be collected and fed through the printer. Make sure that you fan the paper before use ant it is of suitable quality and weight.

Aficio 2022 PCL 6 model is creasing paper during the printing process.

First thing to check is that the paper tray guides are adjusted properly (snug to the paper). If so, then the pressure roller in the fusing unit is the most likely cause and will need replacing.

How Brave is Jan?

Doubt it be the fuser(100 000life), "just magenta dots".... fuser would be "all smudged" or "black marks" , "the print rubs off" , "paper is creasing or jamming"

Can prove it by stopping a print (open door) when paper is1/2 way threw machine, you need to stop it before it goes threw the hot bit, so you can tell if the hot bit (fuser) puts the marks on the paper.

Transfer roller one would expect to effect whole print Smudged/Faint,uneven density

It will be the imaging unit ( 30 000 pagelife Ouch$ ) or possible leaking toner (if aftermarket)

Remove imaging unit and inspect film you should find image of lines, dots are usually chips or sticky stuff on drum surface, carefull no oily human fingers on surface please.

When stopping machine mid print and perfecting your timing, pull out the imaging unit and look at replica of your print notice if marked and where.

Hope this helps
