Hi,

This is highly probable that the external Hard disk has failed. Not your fault , but due to manufacturing fault.

Pls return to where you have bought it, and request for warranty exchange.

Thank you for coming to FixYa and rating us.

Hi,
If you are VERY locky, you can place the drive in another PC and copy the data out. When copying do it in small amounts so you might "isolate" the files affected by the error.
If the drive dont spin, you might be able to start it by removing the lid and give it a little push.
Good Luck!

Is there any way to add video files larger than 4 gigs? Do I have to buy another hard drive?

You should upgrade your file system from FAT to NTFS.  Then you should be able to copy files larger than 4gb.  Please refer to link below.

How many directory deep is the file going that you are trying to save? I believe the maximum NTFS file (location + name) of file length can not exceed 256 characters total.

Example: C:\user\documents\file.exe is OK

But: C:\user\documents\folder\folder\folder\folder\folder\this folder name 230 charicters long\file.exe BAD

Western digital my passport 320 file path too deep

The "path" is the full name of a file or a folder, e.g.,

C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5

If the path has too many characters, you get the error-message that you reported.

If you can, rename one of the folders, using a shorter name.

Error code -1309

Try to copy the file to another part within the drive it's in, this is a READ error. once it's there, move it to the WD drive.

Good luck!
