oh~ mine is Eee PC 900 from Taiwan, thank you We are a small registered charity with 4 pcs and 1 laptop. After installing a new router we are unable to connect 2 pcs to the wireless 2wire router. The pcs with internal devices are fine. The 2 that wont connect are external. BT have been unable to resolve problem. When we click on connection it says 'may be out of range' but never had this problem before and all green lights for signal are on. Any suggestions welcome. Many thanks

Thanks for your reply. I don't really think this will help as this is a new router and the same as the old one which worked perfectly. Many thanks anyway.

Hi terryandy,

I am using the Eee PC from Taiwan also. It is running good.

Based on your scenario, have you tried changing another new router?

Your description of having "out of range" is highly probable due to router hardware failure.

Try replacing the router and update us again.

Thank you.

    Hi terryandy,

Have you tried changing to WEP encrytion key?

Do not use WPA encryption yet.

    Update me again?

    Thank you for your time.

    Hi terryandy,

First, I must admit I may accidentally leave some steps out.

Go to a wired PC and do the following steps.

    1. To change your Residential Gateway wireless settings:

    2. Open a browser and type http://gateway.2wire.net or http://192.168.1.254; the 2Wire Home page opens.

If the Home page does not open, check to make sure that you have no software firewalls blocking network access.

    3. Click the Home Networking tab at the top of the 2Wire Home page.

    4. Click EDIT SETTINGS located on the right panel (Status at a Glance) under the Wireless Settings heading.

    5. Change your wireless settings and use the following information if you want to change to a custom WEP key. 64-bit hexadecimal keys are exactly 10 characters in length. (For example, 123456789A is a valid string of 10 characters for 64-bit encryption.)
128-bit hexadecimal keys are exactly 26 characters in length. (For example, 456FBCDF123400144445271730 is a valid string of 26 characters for 128-bit encryption.)
64-bit ASCII keys are exactly 5 characters in length. (For example, GMODE is a valid string of 5 characters for 64-bit encryption)
128-bit ASCII keys are exactly 13 characters in length (For example, 2008SUNSSWIN1 is a valid string of 13 characters for 128-bit encryption.)

    6. Try using 64bit bit WEP Encryption
    7. Click "Use custom Passphrase"
    8. Type in the 10 character password ( also known as wireless password"
    9. For the network name, stick to the given name , e.g. 2WIRE554
    10. Click Save
    11. Exit from the browser
    12. Go to the wireless notebook or PC, and try detect 2WIRE554 signal.
    13. If requested, type in the 10 character password you have entered in the router just now.
    14. Click connect.

    Hope this helps :)

    Update me again.

    thank you! ^_^

If you are connecting via wireless, the reason is usually because your router has lost its internet connection. Try switching the wireless router off, waiting 10 seconds and switching it on again. Can you explain how you are trying to connect and if you can use any other computer successfully, etc.

ASUS EEE PC w/ Windows XP will not Connect Wirelessly

You need to know if your home network requires a password or paraphrase to allow you to connect. Also, you might have to check your settings on your router, they have to match the settings of your laptop wireless adaptor. You can try these solutions and if no luck post with more information
