If you have updated your laptop, you will probably need to reinstall the sound drivers appropriate to the Operating System you are on now.
Go to the manufacturer's website, eg HP, Dell etc and search for your laptop model. They should have the sound drivers there, make sure that you select the Operating System you are on (eg Windows Vista/ Windows 7). If you are on Windows 7 but they have no drivers for that OS, suggest you go for the next highest, ie Vista 64 and then Vista. Download and install
remove and reinstall the sound driver ..reboot and see if it is back ...sometimes a virus or an error can cause this ...just go to control panel ...add remove software ...locate the driver by name ..usually it is a realteck or a high definition audio controller...remove it completely.. reinstall the driver and you should have sound back ...if this is not happening ...either the driver is not actual anymore (you upgraded the operation system ) ...or its something wrong with the sound card ..
Go into control panel and check on the sound applet. Underneath the sounds tab it will tell you what type of sound cards are in your system. Sometimes newer ones will have their own sound system. You can also go through control panel and system to find the sound card.
If neither place actually has that information and you have a separate sound card installed, the model is printed on the card (either front or back depending on type of card).
If it is integrated, then you have to look on the board for the model of the board and search via manufacturer's website. If you have any trouble, post a response and I'll help you find it.
i'm using the Compaq795TU model laptop with windows Xp as an operating system. I had the problem in my OS, hence i formatted the system. But atlast i found that i dont have a back up copy of sound and modem drivers. Please help me in getting the drivers
Hi, Same problem. Somebody had suggested gentle tapping. With nothing to loose if it doesnt work my wife banged it more than gently onto a desk and it started working. Hurrah! Dont blame us if it breaks.

Sounds like the connection between the phone and the battery may have gotten corroded or dirty. Another possibility: Something is the matter with your charger. Go to a Nokia outlet and see if they can charge your battery. If they cant, they need to fix your phone.
