As I recall, it was about $300. I knew what the problem was (power supply IC), but I felt it was worth the $300 to have someone else carry the tension of ordering and installing it and if I was wrong, correcting the problem.

It has worked well since. It has been good fortune that I was able to get it fixed twice. Better TVs are coming out all the time and I think we are at a point now where you can get the new HD wide screen units for a pretty good price. If you are able to wait a year or so longer, we might be into OLED TVs and LCDs with LED backlighting. The future is, apparently, 3D. I am going to CES this Thursday where I hear that may be the big thing.

My tv has a blue dots all around the television. Im thinking its the optical block? Maybe time for a new tv?

You are correct in thinking optical block, but here is the good news. For the cost of a service call a tech can come out with a jig and reprogram your optical block and the problem should go away. It may be worth the cost to fix. Unlike throwing away a 900 dollar optical block.

Will it be worth to hire a tech to fix the convergence problem on my TV or should I buy a new set?

You can adjust the convergence by press the flash focus button on the TV. If the issue persists, then try resetting the TV to the factory settings. If the issue persists, try power resetting the TV. Turn Off the TV and remove the power plug from the wall outlet for 1 minute and reconnect it and check the operation. If the issue persists, then the TV requires service. You can contact the service center and check for the cost of repair. It is just a small adjustment.

Mitsubishi VS-60705, Turns on/Turns off.

Unfortunately you will need an experienced TV tech.
This unit will need 2 ICs STK392-110 for 1 has shorted and caused damage to the 2nd as a result blowing 1 or 2 pico fuses in the power supply.
It is an involved job and may be somewhat costly depending on the pricing in your area.
Hope this helps Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4
