My beer fridge causes power surges when i turn it on

I brought a surge plug , it still happens. The fridge works fine while it is on for 2 -3 hrs until it cuts out, then I have to flick the switch on the power box to get power back , now I only turn it on now & then.

Sounds like the start components are getting weak or you are getting a low voltage condition. If you have it plugged into a extenstion cord the manufactures of all equiptment says that that's is a "no no" try to more it to where it get its power directly from the outlet and see if that helps. if not then you can try the new components for the compressor. Also another thing is the condenser clean? having a dirty compressor wiill also affect thie unit because the head pressure doesn't have time to equallize before the compressor try's to start up. Another thing to look at is the freezer empty you may want to put some gallon bottles full of water into it that will make the unit not short cyle as much. Good luck with this.

What is the first thing to check after a power surge caused by a close by lightning strike?

See if everything works. Stereos & TV's are usually the first to go. Items with digital devices go next analogs after that & grounded devices last. A whole house surge suppressor costs about 50 bucks and is just a few wires to connect & at the very least wall adapter surge suppressors should be connected to everything.

I had to unplug my tv today (actually the TV is plugged into a surge protector, so I unplugged the surge protector.) when I plugged the surge protector back in the TV wouldn't go on (acts as if its...

There should be a surge release button on the surge protector to bring the protector back to normal (should be red in color) Some surge protection devices have this option so just check if your s has it. If that is not the case than I think that you might have blown a fuse in your TV.Might just have to open it up and change the fuse within with the same ratings, but please be careful because do have high voltages so get an experienced technician to do this for you.
Good Luck.

TV Wont turn on after lighting storm. I have tried to; unplug and plug back in. Unplug it for 24 hrs. Try different outlets. Look at the build, looks fine.

The TV circuitry is designed to protect from power surges. The fuse on the power supply may be blown, or the power supply itself could have taken a hit. I would try to check the fuse first and then if it turns back on... it did it's job!

Good luck! and let me know what happens!

Model ATF6000751. Replaced speed control board a month ago when final spin failed. Worked fine until yesterday. Could something else be causing the board to go bad?

Power Surges. In my area we suspect that 70 to 80% of the repairs here are caused by power surges. They happen all the time, andyou do not have to lose power to have one. They can happen when you have lightning, windstorms or beutiful sunny days. You have to have a 2000 joule surge protector or higher on your washer, refer, microwave oven, and gas stove or dryer if you have them. For your washer , gas dryer, and refer you have to have a rectangular box wall mount surge protector. You cannot have a power strip surge protector on a cord as moisture can get into it and cause electrical fires. I have seen three major fires caused by power strips behind washers. Lowes and Best Buy sell wall mounted box surge protectors with a 2150 joule rating that have 3 plugs on each side that rotate from front to the side so that you can plug your refrigerator into the side and not have the refer sit out from the wall any more. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists.

Wii worked fine yesterday. Will not power up

This is a common problem with the Wii. Considering how often I see this problem, I'm amazed Nintendo didn't address it in their FAQ on the Wii. It happens almost every time there is a power surge or the power goes out, etc.

Even if it's hooked up to a surge protector, this happens. Power comes back on, but the Wii appears dead. It won't turn on, and the LED indicators won't light. If there was a power surge, or the power went out,etc...anything, this will happen. The problem is with the AC adapter, not the Wii itself.

You need to reset the AC adapter to get the Wii to work again. There is a circuit inside the AC adapter that needs to be reset. Unplug the AC adapter from the wall/surge protector outlet. Don't unlpug it from the Wii, it has to be at the outlet. You have to kill power to the adapter.

Unlpug it from the wall/surge protector outlet, and leave it unplugged for 5 or 10minutes. This will kill power to the AC adapter, and give the circuit time to reset. When you plug the adapter back into the outlet after 10 minutes, the red led on the front should be lit up.

Our power went out for a few minutes yesterdat and since then our refrigerator and freezer aren't working. What could cause this problem? -Thanks.

first of all I would check the outlet where your fridge is plugged in to make sure the power surge didn't affect it. maybe plug in a lamp. if it is ok, and the fridge will not start at all, i would check the relay/overload on the compressor as it may have been compromised by the power surge when the power came back on. these components start the compressor which in turn starts the cooling/freezing of your fridge. hope this helps.

This is an old posting, but will reply anyways.
I am not sure if this is the same problem that I had , but sounds similar.
I found that there were power surges, or lack of power. I could see my power bar blinking at the time this happened.
So after trying everything under the sun, I plugged it into another outlet with the power bar, and have never had a problem since. It seemed that for some reason I had surges in that line, and have no idea why.
Not sure if this is what is happening to you, but maybe might be of some help to someone else.
Thanks.
Bob.

First thing I'd check is the powerbar. Did you plug the TV into the outlet direct? What caused the breaker to trip? If it was an overload by using too much current, there is a possibility that there is a loose connection in your house wiring causing arcing and the interiference lines you're seeing on the display. You may even want to try the set in a different outlet if the powerbar checks ok, and if the set then works fine, get an electrican ASAP!
