Cannot identify Battery

When I turn on my Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop, I get this:
Warning: the battery cannot be identified.
This system will be unable to charge this battery.
Press Any Key to Continue.
Press 2 times to enter SETUP.
Press and Any Key to enter Boot Menu.

However, when I press Any Key, it continues to boot and run normal and the battery charges fully.

How can it get rid of the Warning?

I have the same message when I start my Inspiron 6000.
I tried the download file suggested and got an error message.
This is the second replacement battery, both new, where I get the "cannot identify the battery" message, while a previous replacement was identified and worked for over a year before this last two can't be identified.
    Does anyone have a solution?

Please update your system using this file and if this does not work try to reseat the battery and check.
If you are using vista download the file to desktop. Right click. Click on run as administrator. Let me know if this resolves your issue or you need more help.

My dell inspiron 1501 will charge the battery but as soon as i unplug the laptop turns off.

It's either the battery or charging circuit on the system board. If you have replaced the battery with a new one then it's probably the system board. A new system board could run between $150 to $300. Then there's the coat of labor.

How can i fix my new dell netbook inspiron mini 1010,when i turn it on there is warning that the battery cannot be identified.the system will be unable to charge this batt

Try to unplug the battery and plug it back well.
Does your battery's power ratings match with your Laptop? Check that information just on your battery, power adapter and on the laptop. If theres any mismatch, please get what matches your laptop.
Otherwise check whether your Power Adapter charges your Battery (Test for power within the Charger). If everything fails, change your battery and ensure it fits your Laptop in terms of Power ratings.
Good Luck!

Battery Not Identified.

I suggest you a few steps to solve your problem.
  • remove the charger and press the power button till all residue power is radiated.
  • then connect the charger and charge the battery fully and try booting the system.
  • if this don't work check the output of your charger and see if it is working fine.
  • if it is working fine then remove the battery and connect the charger and try starting the system.
  • if it works then there are two things possible.
  1. battery gone.
  2. IC responsible for charging is gone.
i hope you can figure out the problem through this.

Thank you

I just put a replacement battery on my Inspiron 710M. On startup I get a message that says, "The battery cannot be identified. This system will be unable to charge batteries until this battery is removed."...

This battery is not compatible with this laptop. Dell batterys have a sensor that tells to laptop is it dell battery or not. Unfortunately you have to replace battery with correct one.

Battery cannot be identified Every time I boot up my Dell Inspiron 1501 I get the following message: "Warning: The Battery cannot be identified. This system will be unable to charge this battery."...

Generally this is an indication that the battery has failed. The normal life span of a PC battery is 300 to 500 recharge cycles (Roughly 12 to 18 months) so the most likely answer is buy a new battery since this one is already out of warranty

Replacement battery for Dell Inspiron 1501 won't charge

If your old battery was doing the same (not charging), then is is because the charger is not charging the battery. Do you have a friend with a Dell laptop? Maybe you can use a borrowed charger to test and see if it will charge the batteries. To answer your question , no Dell does not have anything built in to prevent you from using a 3rd party battery.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe
