If you have a wireless receiver you would most likely have wifi. If you do have a wireless receiver go to settings then to wifi and then you will see a list of wireless receivers and then if one doesnt have a lock next to it you are able to get wifi. If they all have a lock you have to find out the password(which is most likely on the bottom of the wireless receiver)!

WiFi is not based on your computer, it is based on what you have connected to your internet modem. If you want WiFi then you will need a router that provides WiFi transmission. These routers also have standard ports to connect your equipment that doesn't support WiFi. Most Laptop computers sold now a days have wireless modems intergrated so if you upgrade your router you dont have to worry about having to buy a bunch of other things.

Turn on your Itouch, then touch "Settings", you will see "Wifi"...find the wifi that you want to connect to and touch it to activate the wifi.
Good Luck, I hope this helped

I just got an Itouch. It's syncked. I can't

This works sometimes- Power down and repower back on.  Type in the same password you use to get on the net on your computer.  No luck?  Download the latest upgrade 3.1.2 to address wi/fi issues.

Itouch says connected to router but not to internet

I had exactly the same problem with a brand new 3rd gen iTouch. It showed it was connected to the network but wouldn't access anything (invalid argument etc). I tried everything but no joy. Eventually I fixed it by changing the router's encryption from WEP to WPA2-PSK. Fixed it like magic. Where there had been no router or DNA data before, they were suddenly filled in. The key was different but was still on the bottom of the router. I had to re-enter the key on my wireless laptop2_bing.gif but that was a small price.

You can get into the router set-up page through your web browser. I found a guide on You Tube.

Good luck!

Connect itouch to wifi

Hi mac42eli,

You need any router or wireless access point to conenct your ipod touch to the internet or even your home network.

These days most wired routers will also have the option of wireless. You can check this by entering the routers configuration page. Usually by typing in 192.168.1.1 into the address bar. Or more simply, google you wired router model to check.

Bluetooth is not currently available for connection in the ipod touch or iphone. The iphone supports it, but for bluetooth headsets. Therefore, regardless of the fact that your mac pro (very nice computer by the way) can support it, your ipod touch can't take advantage of other bluetooth devices.

I hope this helps.

Nathan.

I want to know if there is a way to tether the internet on my phone to my itouch..is that possible?

Hi there,
There is currently no facility for internet sharing from either the iPhone or iTouch. The only way to share a connection is from a wifi Access Point.
All the best

Not really a problem

You can setup the router to work with modem. When computer is online behind the router you can just connect your Itouch wirelessly to have wireless internet.

It's since the touch doesn't officially support WPA PSK and only supports WPA2. What will work is WEP and although it is less secure very few people will bother cracking your network. If you continue to have problems with your secured connection try putting the hex key instead of the passphrase (you set hello as your password the hex would something like 0X34Hg65) it is usually displayed just beneath the password you set.
