Check to make sure that you have connected the microphone to a microphone port. Headphone ports are identical to microphone ports physically, however they will not accept audio input. If you have verified that the microphone is connected to a microphone jack and the device still does not work, you may be using an old or low quality microphone which is not good enough to detect your voice. You might need to buy a higher quality microphone. If this is not the case, your microphone may be broken. You can check this by using a recording program like audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/) to do a test recording and make sure that the microphone is actually recording. If none of the above seem to be the issue, then make sure you are speaking loudly and clearly. Voice recognition software is not always good at picking up your voice and you may need to enunciate your speech more, especially if English is not your first language or you have an accent.
double click on the speaker symbol shown on the right hand corner of screen and than click on options and than properties and in the list chk if the mic volume is checked if not put a check and u will see the volume control in the main menu make sure the volume is to the top and there is no check on mute if it still doesnt work change the mic and chk
go into your Control Panel, find and double click on Sounds and Devices- click on the Voice tab, under Voice recording - change the Default device: to the device you are using. this is not a monther board problem, its software problem, as long as you are sure that the mic is working
First please uninstall the yahoo and install the latest version of yahoo messenger from net. Next please follow the step by step troubleshooting if you are still facing the issue:
Step 1:Reduce echoes by using a headset instead of speakers and a microphone. Place the microphone farther away from the speakers, if possible. Adjust the volume of the speakers and the microphone.
Step 2:Verify your Internet connection speed if your friend's voice sounds choppy. The computer modem speed must be 56K or higher in order to send voices or sounds.
Step 3:Go to "Actions" and "Call Setup" in Yahoo! Messenger if you can't hear, or your friend can't hear you. Test the sound by following the instructions that proceed call setup.
Step 4:Click on the speaker icon in the lower right corner of your computer screen if you want to test the sound manually. Uncheck "Mute," if necessary, and make sure sound levels are above 50 percent.
Step 5:Pick "Preferences" in Yahoo! Messenger if you have trouble with connecting to the voice server. Choose "Connection," then select "No Proxies." Log in to Messenger again to check the voice server.
Tips & Warnings
Follow your computer system's instructions for checking or modifying the server's TCP ports. Ports numbered 5050, 443 or 80 must be open for the voice features to work.
Install the audio codec software that comes with Windows. PC calls and voice chat require that the software is enabled on your computer.
Go to control panel > speech and audio devices > select audio > select recording > select advanced > Select Microphone (make a tick mark) adjust the volume just above middle level. and close it. OK.
Now the problem should be solved !
Note: If your skype supports audio configuration run that . Also remember to use two channel audio if your system supports 6-channel audio onboard.
