Question about Logitech HARMONY 659 Remote Control

9 Answers

I cannot get my HK T-30 (harmony remote) to receive updates. Harman Kardon say that I need to learn how to get my system to allow their site to load an application onto my remote through the USB port. If turned off my firewalls and popup blockers and that hasn't helped.

I've followed the HK instructions and cleared cookies. I don't know what "remote nunplugged" is or how I can cause HK's application to download to my computer without the remote.

  • delh1938 Jan 07, 2009

I have had this site listed as a trusted site in explorer along with firewall and popup blockers turned off.

Hi, Try removing all batteries and disconnect the USB from the remote. Hold down off button and connect the USB while holding it. Release the off button and try performing the update.
Insert the batteries after the update.

If the update does not work on your computer, you can try to use a different computer now. Updating the harmony remote is just easy, when you plug it to your computer and internet is working, that should do it automatically.

I think you first need to install the application on your computer with remote nunplugged, when setup has finished connect the remote, and it should be recognised.

I need universal remote to operate on my device jvc fs 2000

You can try one of a couple of options to fix this. On a standard universal remote, you should receive with it a 'code list' of valid codes to input for your device. If there aren't any listed, the instructions should explain to you how to perform a code search (sorry, but without info on what model of universal you're using, I can't be more specific about the programming feature).

Your other option is to purchase a 'learning' universal remote, such as Logitech's Harmony series. They're a little pricey, but well worth it for the fact that you can teach the remote to operate your component (if you still have the original remote) by entering learning mode and placing your original remote facing the 'learning sensor' on the universal and pressing the appropriate keys when prompted. The nice thing about the Harmonies are that they allow you to create an account online for it (free of charge) and hook it up to your PC via USB, and you can download and/or customize your remote for specific devices. Here is a link to the Harmony 650 that I have that's available on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Harmony-Remote-Control-Silver/dp/B004OVECU0/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1346158512&sr=8-3&keywords=harmony+universal+remote

Won't control Sony da4400es receiver

Hi. If your remote is not able to control any of your devices, you can take advantage of its learning capabilities. The Harmony One remote is able to learn commands from your original device remote, so that it can properly mimic the remote.
To learn commands, log in to your software account and click on the "Devices" tab. Next to the icon for your receiver, click "Learn IR." This will take you to a page with all of the receiver's commands, which you can learn one by one by selecting them and clicking "Learn."
Hope this helps.

Hi how can I turn off my Harman Kardon receiver with the 3.1 Dishnetwork remote?

Guest

I have provided instructions on how to program your DISH remote to a different component. I hope this helps.

Address To Other Equipment Using Code
  • Remotes: Multiple Mode Buttons (TV,VCR, AUX)
    1. Press and hold the desired Mode button until all mode button backlights come on, then release.
    2. Use the number buttons to enter the device code corresponding to the equipment. AUX Mode: Before entering the device code:
      • Press 0 for a TV
      • Press 1 for a VCR/DVD
      • Press 2 for any other device.
    3. Press the pound (#) button Note: The light will blink off after each digit is entered and then return to a steady light.
    4. Press the POUND (#) button. If the code entered is valid for the remote, the mode light flashes three times.
Here are the codes to try: 640, 672, 751

Program remote to replace all remotes

Hi, yes of course it is possible! First off, you have to make sure that your Dish device it set on remote address 1 in order for it to be controlled by the Harmony. Then, once you add the device to your Harmony account, if there are any functions that are missing, you can learn them right from the original remote .

Adding a device:
1. In the software, clcik 'Add Device'
2. Follow the on screen instructions.

Learning a command:
1. In the software, click 'Learn IR' next to the icon for your Dish device.
2. Go down to the bottom of the page where it says 'Learn a new command'
3. Type in a name for your command, and click 'Learn'
4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Hope that helps you get this set up right!

Turns on fios box and receiver but not television

I would hook the harmony back up to your computer and the update the remote. If that does not fix the problem then I would down load the firmware and then update your remote. If you still have problem I would manually teach the power command (Learn) to the harmony remote. Harmony calls this “Learn command” It’s a button in the lower right corner while in the “customize button” tab.
Hope this helps

I have a Motorola QIP6200/64xx DVR set-top box thru Verizon

The best code I could find was "007"

"210" kind of works, but can't compete with Mr. Bond.

After programming "007", if there are any features of you FiOS remote that do not work on the HK AVR 354 remote, simply follow the HK AVR 354 manual instructions to "learn" additional commands. See the last paragraph on page 31 through letter "e" on page 32.

Cheers,
Jeremiah Pattison

I have a HK TC30 remote control that will reset itself, displaying "Testing" and then indicates that the remote thinks all devices are off.

Try re-loading the firmware again through safe mode. 1. Take out the batteries from the remote. 2. Turn on your computer and hold the off/on button and connect the USB cable to the computer and remote. 3. The remote display should say "Safe Mode Requested". 4. Start the HK software and login, then click on Support. 5. In the download section, click on firmware and then proceed to update the firmware again. 6. After you update the firmware, you will need to re-download your configuration again and update the remote.

Harmony remote with Harmon Kardon receiver

HK AVR 347-I took it back- everyone was frustrated and the verdict was that it just doesn't work. I have a Dennon now and it doesn't sound as good as the HK but it works most of the time. Not sure it the Harmony is the problem. I'm reading the Dennon manual now and it seems the Dennon remote can do what the Harmony is trying to do. Harmony support is awesome and we'll keep trying. Sooo- was there a trick to it?
