Question about Panasonic CT-32HX40 32" TV

1 Answer

Panasonic 36HX41E Tau 36" HDTV Won't turn on

I hit the power button on my remote last night and heard a loud cracking sound - sounded like a voltage arc. The TV did not turn on, and attempting to turn on via the front power button on the set did not work, either. Thoughts? Thanks & regards, Wayne in Colorado

Turned off the surge protector power strip, turned it back on -- and power came back to the TV. Problem solved.

Watching TV suddenly the screen went black with a white horizontal stripe
that came to the center from both sides and then gone.  No more picture
and no more power.  Checked all power cords, no extensions, used another
outlet, still no power.  Checked all connections.  Checked braker box.
The HD tv down stairs works perfectly.  The TV in Question CT 32HX41  32"
is HD ready.  8 yrs old.  No game playing, no over use.  Help!!!!!!

Sounds terminal. Companies build things with "planned obsolescence" in mind. In other words. You buy a TV today, and the warranty says it's good for 4 years. 4 years and 3 months later, it dies.

I hope someone else can help you.
Good Luck!

Have sound, no picture

After fooling around with all of the buttons, and disconnecting the power to the TV, it occured to me that it may be the Comcast digital cable box. I unplugged the cable box for a few minutes, plugged it back in and the TV works just fine!

The high pitched sound is probably comming from the power supply, possibly due to its trying to drive voltage into a shorted component in the high voltage deflection circuits. You may be lookng at about a $250 repair. If it has been used a lot and its picture quality didn't knock your socks off, I would replace it with a HDTV set. A 37 inch LCD from Toshiba might be a good place to start and should do nicely for you.
