try using nero as explorer may not readily detect blanks. Also ensure the writer is a dvd writer and not just a dvd rom To ensure compatibilty with the ever increasing range of media, an update to the burner .is usually all that is needed, this is called firmware upgrade Most drives will read anything, and most burners are
now "all formats", but you may have a burner that is
either one or other, not both, thats to say, your burner
maybe only a "DVD+R/RW" - note the "plus" sign.
whereas your blank media maybe "DVD-R/RW"
your dvd drive has become faulty...it lost the potential to read DVD...but still it will read all kinds of CDs....try cleaning the dvd lens once using lens cleaner.... if it still does not read then you need to buy a new dvd writer... it is not recommended to repair the old one.... it will not work good even after servicing,it may work for one or two times again it will not work.... new dvd writer for desktop computer will cost around 1100rupees.... for laptops you it will cost even more.... its better to buy an external dvd drives in that case for laptops....
This may be caused by bad media, or incompatible formats. There are a variety of media formats for CDs and DVDs. Your reader may not read them all. What model are you running, and what type of media (DVD-R, DVD+R, etc) are you using?
there ll be a lens in dvd writer which ll be corrupted and disk ll rotate properly even if lens of the dvd writer is spolied... u hv said u hv warranty right do register for a replacement of the dvd disk
