First, start simple - make sure the hold/lock switch is not activated. Reset your player. Try again one more time.

If that fails:
The laptop and the PC may be operating on different file systems (NTFS vs. FAT) - when you plugged it into the laptop, it either reformatted the player (not likely based on your symptoms) or it rejected the file system on the new computer. There is no way to resolve this issue without deleting either all the contents of your mp3 player or all the contents of your computer's hard drive. Pick a computer that you will use and stick with it, is my reccomendation.

There are at least two other possibilities - 1) the pc and the laptop have different operating systems. Once again, no way around it unless you want to load the same operating system on both computers.

2) Some laptops do not have enough power to do what they need to do AND run an mp3 player. Make sure that the USB port on the laptop is a 2.0 port. Make sure the laptop is plugged into a wall outlet, even if it normally operates fine under battery alone.

Good luck!

You need to have iTunes installed on the computer. Once installed, plug in your iPod and iTunes will recognize it. From there you can either create an account and purchase tunes from iTunes store or insert a cd and load the songs onto computer then select songs you want to put on iPod. It is pretty straight forward once you have iTunes.
Hope this helps!

Sansa will not detect

If you are using a USB connector [that connects extra ports to your computer] it sometimes doesnt work... so if possible hook the USB sansa cable to the main ports in the back of the server. It might also work to hook it in, and then go to 'My Computer' and see if it shows up there. Good Luck =]

Computer doesn't recognize MP3 player -

I had the same problem, all you have to do is first turn on the Mp3.Then go to settings. Then go down to USB mode. It will probably say, auto detect. But instead scroll down to MSC. If that doesn't work try MTP.

USB Malfunction

oh God. I have the same problem. but my grandparents got it for me, so i can't find the courage to throw it away. too much sentimental value. see, i put Rockbox on it. it was working fine for a while. this sucks. the good thing - you can copy/cut/paste/delete/move....etc. with Rockbox. so i just put the music on the microSD through the computer, then put it into the player and cut/paste.

No ethernet with docking station

It could be the connector on the bottom of your laptop that's creating the problem. Does any other ports work on the docking station when docked?
