Question about Mitsubishi XL8U Multimedia Projector
Yellowish colorization on center of displays is not a prizm issue. It is generally a need of cleaning factor. Even with the filters clean, the LCD's can and acquire heavy dust build up on the panels. This is not limited only to the LCD's it also applies to the polarizers and spectrum filters. Your unit most likely requires deep lens and panel cleaning. This is done by trained professionals, as they can be permanently damaged if the proper tools are not used.

Depending on what it is if it looke like a scorch mark the it is not the Optical Engine (prism) it is more likely to be the polerising filter most are quite esly changed and would cost about £15 ($30) for parts and about twice that to get them fitted at a service center, if it is pixel dots then it is a LCD replacement and not worth doing.

Your blue device is dying, this problem is as old as lcd projectors. I would suggest replaceing with a dlp product. Lcd's are organic and can't handle the heat and the blue is the first to go. Average about 3-4000 hours..
