Question about Dryers

1 Answer

We have had our Whirlpool Duet Electric Dryer (front loading) for about 2 months. It is showing an error code of F22. I have no idea what this code means nor how to fix it.

The f22 code is a failed thermistor. you can try to change this yourself but if the unit is less then a year old then it will be covered by warranty.
the part is only about 30 bucks so if you can get one and find it behind the lint screen duct then you could change it and fix the problem.

How do I fix an f22 error code?

On the back of the blower housing(fan that makes air move through the dryer), there is a thermal fuse called a thermistor. The F22 error code you're getting means that this safety fuse has opened and must be replaced. The part# is 8577274 and is designated #40 on the exploded parts diagram. This is an INVOLVED repair. Most of the thermal fuses can be reached by removing the rear cover of the dryer and are located on the heater box. This one, however, is accessed by removing the entire front of the dryer, including the front bulkhead assembly to expose the blower housing. Here is the exploded parts view from Parts Select, their part# is PS993287 and costs 20 bucks and change, http://www.partselect.com/MultiModels.aspx?ModelNum=wed6600&searchTerm=&RefineSearch=0. If you aren't comfortable with this level of disassembly, DEFINITELY call for a service tech to do the repair!

What does F-1 mean on a Duet front load dryer? Our dryer's lights will turn on but, the dryer will not start up. At first we thought the control panel was locked out. But, it wasn't.

The "F-1" error code means a failure occurred with the electronic controls.. This could mean that wires are broken, the electronics shorted out or a manufacturer's default error shut the washer down.

Prevention/Solution: The electronic control panel needs replacement. Find your dryer serial number and search for the part online. This is a lengthy job that usually requires a repairman unless you have dealt with and repaired dryers before.

If your dryer was purchased within the past couple of years, the dryer could be covered under the warranty. Visit the Whirlpool customer service page for more information or Whirlpool-Duet-Dryer-fault-codes

Hope this helps.

Error Code

I don't have a manual on the newest dryer like you have, but one of the models just older than yours has a F23 code that indicates a shorted thermistor.( temp sensor )
Since it is new you need to call for service. They will usually look up the code and tell you if it is anything you need to check but most likely you will need a repairman to repair it in warranty.
Post back if you have any questions.
