Question about Western Digital My Book Essential 500GB External USB 2.0 - WDH1U5000N 500 GB Hard Drive
EVERY MEMORY STICK OR MY EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE I TRY TO USE SHOWS UP AS WRITE PROTECTED HOW CAN I REMOVE THIS.
I TRIED DOWN LOADING THE MBRFIX IT WOULD NOT WORK HELP PLEASE I HAVE VISTA HOME PRE ON MY PC My external Western Digital Drive keeps saying "write protected" and I can't edit documents or PPTs nor can I paste over new documents.
I'm using Windows XP. I haven't had a problem and then all of a sudden this happened.
I followed your instructions but couldn't find the security settings you referred to.
Try to set the 'file permissions.' Right-clicking the hard drive letter brings up the option, where you can select 'Properties.' You should find the 'Security' tab there, then modify the permissions on each user. You should log-on using the administrator account to modify this settings. !con =)
