Whenever a disc is inserted & it closes, U1 shows on the display window of the unit. Then the disc won't play & it will come back out.So what's happening? How do you solve this problem?????
It sounds like buy your details, That i will compliment you on, Are to the point not like some other people asking questions on hear, That the lazer is shot, End not reading the info off of the disc any more, It is verry costly to have it repaired, Just look for a different one, I have got good used ones for friends of mine for $7 to $30 at the most, From thrift stores or privately, Hope this helps you out.

I had this same problem today.
unplugged it
took off the cover screws ..2 on each side and 3 in back on top
in the middle of the unit there is a white arm with a tab on both sides
it lifts the cd into the middle to be played
the white tab had come out of the slot it was suppossed to be in on the black cd arm
just carefully ease the tab back into the slot and its like new

Have you checked to see if the units laser assy is returning to home and when its trying to read a disc, is the lens moving up and down , trying to focus? Have you tryed to clean the laser lens? If you have done all this then your units most likly going to need a laser assy or a servo alighnment. If it has to go into A shop for repair, Im afraid it may not be worth it. GOOD lUCK

have u taken the top off and checked to see if the drive belts are in good condition and not loose? that can cause this loading error as well as a hard fault in a component.

Hi owsfmiller,
This Err that appears on your CD player is caused by a CD stuck inside the tray. It's most likely that the CDs came off the trays and got stuck inside. Open the chassis of the player using a screw driver. Then, manually turn the driving gear of the CD tray to free the stucked tray. Be careful so the setting of the tray and the laser eye is not change. This should resolve the issues you're getting.
Hope it helps.
Thank you for using Fixya.
