Change the USB mode from MTP to MSC and see if that helps.
Also, make sure the hold/lock is not engaged.

E280 wont turn on, wheel only glows

Hello,

For the e200 series player you can first try to RESET the player as next (solution 1):
1. Press and hold the Power/Menu button for approximately 20 seconds.
2. Release the Power/Menu button. ( now the player should be off )
3. Press the Power/Menu button again to turn on the player, to see if the device is working normally again.

If the player still freezes after that, you can reload and update the lastest firmware (solution 2).

The screen wont come on

try resetting the player by holding the power button. your player may be "bricked" in which case you may have to get a return from sandisk.

I would suggest holding the 'power' button down for a good 15-20 seconds.

Sansa e280 "frozen" won't turn off or respond to buttons pushed

I had the same freeze problem and after doing everything I could think of I read the downloaded user manual and found the answer was to hold down the menu button for 15 seconds. It acts as a power off button and cancels out the last operation thereby unfreezing the offending action.
