Question about NetGear : WG111 54 Mbps Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter, RETAIL (DSNGWG111)

1st I tried to install the usb adapter and it told me it couldn"t work with vista. I went online and found the proper drivers for vista. I have the usb adapter working because it can see my network, but when I try to connect it tells me "Windows cannot connect to 83744 (SSID name), when I click on diagnose the problem "Please contact you net admin or ISP".

Go to manage wireless networks.. click on the network name choose manually configure.. set your wep key in there

NetGear Wireless Router and NewGear WG111 Adapter


I imagine you bought the WG111 Kit. It could but throught the Router and/or the adapter. Uninstall all netgear software and drivers. Unplug the adapter. Reboot machine. Plug the adapter in and install the software drives. Basically your starting over. This will take the quess work out of trying to repair what was lost. Can't get the dialogue box to stay onscreen


You upgraded your PC what OS is your new system? Win 7?. Most probably the software you downloaded for your USB or PCI wireless adapter is not compatible to new OS.

From the model you mention Netgear WG111 (USB)? Drivers are for XP. Maybe you can download a newer version that support your OS.

-- check the device manager of your computer
-- for win xp - go to right click on my computer - manage - computer management - device manager - on the right hand side that the netgear adapter is listed under network adapters or other devices

-- check the status that its working properly
-- then upgrade the latest drivers ...

Since you already did a uninstall and re installation of your adapter and still the same problem, you may want to try updating the driver of the adapter, so uninstall and reinstall the adapter using the latest driver from the manufacturers web site....

Try going into the hardware manager, see if the computer sees the wireless adaper, if it does, thjen install it, if not then your device is defective.
