Yes, there are no other antivirus programs. I had to reload my XP operating system, so all was clean.

How to Fix McAfee Error Code 1603? McAfee antivirus error occurred while downloading McAfee Antivirus

Josse,
There are soooo many FREE antivirus programs out there that are every bit as good as McAfee..WITHOUT ALL THE HEADACHES!!... ( I have NOT paid for any "anti-anything" in over 15 years... and I do not get viruses).. staying away from "bad questionable sites" and NOT opening anything you are not SURE is safe ( a lot of the free stuff will scan attachments before you open them!!)..this will keep you "disease free"....

Where to put activation code

Hi,

Please try the below step and try activating the products and let me know the status;

1. Ran McAfee Removal tool . Click here > http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

2. When you try install McAfee through your disk chose Custom installation and install McAfee Anti spam alone.

3.Once installation was completed try to activate McAfee.

4.If Activation completed successfully then open McAfee and click on Navigation option in top right hand side.

5.In Navigation windows click Featuresin left hand side and install rest of the McAfee features.

Bryan

Why won't McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2011 install on my windows 7 laptop?

A possibility to consider, with a lot of "if's" involved. If your original product was pre-installed by the manufacturer of your computer, and if you didn't activate your new subscription before uninstalling the old one, see the "Important Note" in the document, which contains the download for the MCPR tool. I question whether the above, would manifest itself, with a "failed" error.

I am trying to download McAfee Antivirus and keep getting error 76556 that does not permit installation I already removed all the other Antivirus/Firewall from the computer.... But still when i try to...

Was the other antivirus/firewall program you had installed on your PC McAfee or another brand? If there was another brand (example: Symantec) you will need to run a full uninstall utility (accessable from most software vendors websites). If the other antivirus/firewall was McAfee, run the full uninstall utility which is called the McAfee Consumer Products Removal tool which you can obtain at the link I provided below; again this is for McAfee products only. If the last software you had on your PC was McAfee, then run this tool, this will do a complete job of removing old remnants that Add/Remove does not. It will then reboot your PC, and after which you should be able to reinstall your new McAfee software.

If it wasn't McAfee, you will have to check the company's site for a removal tool as Symantec (as an example) has one too.

Downloaded Mcafee internet security 1 year subscription and nothing has appeared on my computor

you better be getting that for free.. other wise you may be wasting your money.. mcafee is not one the best antivirus known out there.

keep in mind that downloading the antivirus is not the same as installing the antivirus and getting it to run.. so look for the installation package you download and look for a file that's called setup.exe and run it to actually install the antivirus. once install, configure automatic updates for your antivirus and you should see the macfee icon on the system tray (bottom rigth area where the clock is).
