Be sure to run the print test page after installing cartridges.  After doing so, place the page face down on the scanner and select cartridge alignment.

I have installed colour cartridge 351XL and black 350 cartridge but my printer still says Print cartridges missing or not detected

Have you removed the shipping tape from the print cartridge? It covers the print head on the cartridge to protect them so they won't leak ink.

Hi, Why is the printer saying "Print cartridge missing or not detected'? They are in the printer and haven't been tampered with at all. Why is it saying this and how can we fix it??? Thanks

I had the same problem with two cartridges (black). Contacted HP and they suggested to clean the contact and something else which wasn't possibly by C4280. Got a mail how to print a paper and sent this to HP. Got a new cartridge. 3 month later the same problem! Made a print with the defect cartridge and sent it again to HP. Waiting already a week for a answer! With the new cartridge of HP the printer is ok

HP Photosmart displays a message saying "Printer Cartridge(s) missing or not detected" though I've just put a new cartridge into the machine. How do I fix this so I can print again?

Remove the cartridge.
Make sure that you removed a piece of clear plastic tape that covers the ink-jets. It's placed there to prevent the ink from drying-out while the cartridge has been sitting on the shelf at the computer store.
Re-insert the cartridge, and be sure that it "clicks" into place.

Wont detect

1. Make sure that you removed the tape covering the metal contacts on the print cartridges.

2. Clean those contacts with a cotton swab and distilled, filtered or bottled water. Tap water may damage. Do not touch with curious fingers. Allow to dry.

3. Reinsert, Reset printer.

Did you run the print sample page used to align the print cartridges by scanning the test page?
