Question about HP DeskJet 890c InkJet Printer

Printer Problem Printer is not responding and power is on. My documents have stopped printing for some reason. I don't know if it is a driver problem or what. I know it is something simple. Windows XP and a HP DeskJet 890C. Thanks

HI!. Most printers have a self test facility to do a test page without being connected to any PC. If you can find that out from the HP site, that's a first step. Also, check printers in Windows Control Panel to make sure it is the "Default" printer. Try to send a test page. e.g. right click on the icon for the printer, select 'properties' & look for "Print test page". If all these work then next you would open Windows notepad and just type in a couple of rows of text, then print. If that works, then you try your original application program to prove that it is the cause (somehow). Check all physical connections & re-load the s/w driver.
Also, you could take your printer to a friends place that has the same Windows OS and see if it installs OK. Try & test print etc.

I do not seem to be able to print any documents even after uninstalling old drivers and installing new ones what is wrong

I suspect that you are looking at a flow control issue and not a printer failure.

You can check the printer driver and make sure your printer options for background printing.

Also, make sure that your document is not too busy. I've had customers complain about slow printing documents and when I examined the documents, I discovered that there were multiple images overlay ed. The data still had to be sent, but only the top image printed.

Go back into Printers and Faxes, delete your printer icon, restart your PC and reinstall your printer driver. Good luck.

Printer is not printing at all


You may not install the correct driver for the correct OS. Not sure what OS you are using but below link might be useful for you to get the correct driver and install into your PC.

Is there any blinking of light when the print command given. Any error message at printer display or Computer Screen ?

There is some problem in printing options. Please check and make default setting in the Printer properties. Go to Control Panel --> Select the printer --> Open printer window --> properties --> make them defauls --

During print command check whether the spooling in printer window goes completely or not (if it stop in middle )

Let me know in brief to solve this problem before going to reinstall printer drivers and do not vote till you recieve a good solution for this problem.

have you tried to right click on the printer icon in your task bar at the bottom of your screen? once you do that, you can highlight the document that is showing, right click and cancel printing.. you can also cancel all jobs.. let me know if this helps, if not, do you have the original cd so you can uninstall and reinstall the drivers? if not, i'll need to know what type of printer to find you the link to the driver download--this will just reset the printer and it should work fine.. good luck, d

just to check if the printer and the printer driver is working properly, try printing a 2 page document.

if it prints out correctly - check the applications documentation / user guide for printing instructions.
