L1 and L2 not working on PS2 controllers

The L1 and L2 buttons do not work on both of my PS2 controllers. I have had problems in the past but they have seemed to resolve themselves. This problem wont leave and I have tried blowing dust out of botht port and the controller to no avail. anything else that i can do short of buying new controllers?

PS2 Controller. D-pad does not work along with L1 and L2 buttons. PS2 Controller. Does not work period. I took both of them apart and nothing is apart or seems broken. Could it be at the connection...

I know the answer.
I had the exact same problem, D-pad keys no working along with L1 & L2.

Reason of problem: there is a circuit made of carbon on a plastic sheet under the keys (once you open the controller that is..) that circuit is severed somewhere near the D-pad keys because it gets worn off by pressing the keys.

Solution: I had some "wire glue" and reconnected the circuit with it and now all keys are working!

Here is a picture for you to see what I mean: http://i.imgur.com/bL7THqU.jpg

It's difficult one but doable..
Something so little spoils the whole controller!!

Dualshock 2 up, down l1, l2 buttons problems

try to open it and press the key that are not functioning,, if it doesnt work maybe its the time for you to buy a ribbon for your joystick,,, you can use your old joystick that are not functioning and substitute them to the one you are using,,,, if you dont have that try asking your friend if they had a ruined controller... mind you that this only works for the original controller not for generic.... generic controller are disposable... once one key is not functioning you cannot expect to work that key again,,,

I was having problems with the triangle button so i googled how to fix the problem.... long story short. I took it apart did what i was told, triangle button is still tricky and now the l2 and r2 buttons...

re-open the controller again and check the rubber key attach to the L1 and L2,,, the only problem is that the rubber cannot contact the board...

about the issue of the triangle... if your controller is generic the triangle will not work at all... these controller are disposable...

Ps2 dual shock2 controller buttons not working

Removed accumulated dust sticking on the board were the buttons touches.use cotton balls with alcohol or use clean damp cloth. If nothing's happen check the cord I'm sure it is twisted badly, open your ps2 use this controller and try to twist back the twisted cord if it stopped sometimes when your twisting it then you have to replaced the cord(make sure that your using the original ps2 controller not imitation)pls. rate

I have a logitech G-X2D11 cordless controller I use on my PS2 I have put new batteries in, the light on the receiver flashes green and I have a constant red light on the controller but the controller does...

Try this out since it solved the same problem for me:

a) Turn your PS/2 on with the receiver plugged in. You'll get the green flashing LED on the receiver
b) Remove one of the batteries from the controller.
c) Keep R1 and R2 buttons together while inserting the battery back on the controller.
d) After 5 seconds or so release R1 and R2 buttons.

And that's it - at least for me.

I got this idea after checking Logitech site and reading about the analog controls calibration procedure (basically the same sequence while pressing L1 and L2 buttons).

Merry Christmas...

you are going to have to open it up and see if your L1 and L2 touch the proper gold circle on the mother board then put it back together and see if it works.

Can't get ps2 dual shock 2controller to work

you need to do a special code to take control which is press L1,R1, L2, R2, Start, and Select, for about 30 seconds. if it don't work, unplug the controller, blow on the Female and Male ends. (controller and system) and plug back in and you should be good to go. Please rate my solution.
