my computer dont see the device and the usb port

  • techwimp Feb 28, 2008

My new Sansa 2GB Clips worked fine at first. I loaded music on one and audiobooks on the other using a Windows PC. Then, when visiting a friend, I recharged them on his Mac. The display seemed to show that the battery was recharging properly. However, now when I turn them on the screen and dial light up but the dial buttons do not work. When I connect via USB port to a PC, Windows does not recognize the device. All I can do is turn it off. I tried the 15 sec reset suggested in the manual, but this does not help. Is it possible to do a 'hard' reset by pushing some combination of buttons. Please help. Thanks

Also is your usb port working ok ? try plugging some thing else in it to see if that works. You may have picked up a bug with some downloads recently...Run a scan with your anti virus software. You may have to reset your computer from that date.

A Firmware upgrade may help.Connect it to the computer with usb and log onto the Sandisk website and follow the instructions, worth a try!!! or e mail them first to see what they have to say.

The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

My Sandisk Sansa e250r keeps freezing up....

I called sansa and got this info on how to format the sansa and restore it back to default
This helped me to detect the device and be able to put songs on it.

Turn off device
put hold key on
press and hold mic key while pluggin in the device to pc
open sansa icon in my computer
Up on top of my computer window click tools then folder options and click view tab then uncheck hide extension for known file types.
Now click file new and choose text document then change the name from New Text Document.txt to sansa.fmt and click enter. It will ask you if you want to change the extention and you need to click yes.
Now unplug your sansa from the pc and this will format your whole mp3 player.
You will lose all your date but your sansa will be detected and working.
Once it is done then turn off your device and plug it in while its off.
It should show up in my documents now. The first drive is your hd on the device and the second one is for the extra micro disk.

Oh and another tip is to click show hidden files so that you can see the music folder.
This way you can just drag and drop without having to use windows media player or Rhapsody.

Deleting music off of my sansa E250r!!HLP ME

If you originally used rhapsody (or began in Rhapsody mode) , you have to use rhapsody to remove the songs. If that doesn't work, you can manually open the music folder by enabling "hidden folders" under "tools" -> "folder options..." -> click the "view" tab -> scroll and check "show hidden files and folders". Then go to My Computer -> Sansa e250 -> "system" -> "music" -> then delete the songs. I don't know the effects of using this method, so use it at your own risk.

Btw, Real Player should do fine as well.

Sansa help

Either the device is bad, the pc port is bad, or the software is faulty. Try connecting to different usb port, then a usb port on a different pc with a compatible os. If still not recognized, then there is physical damage to player.

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware.

4 GB micro sd and the Sandisk Sansa e250R...

If the 4gb micro SD is a high capacity SD (it will say micro SDHC on it) your player may not be able to read SDHC cards, my sansa can't because it's the 'older version' it will read 2gb and below micro SD cards though (it sucked when I found out because I had just bought a 6gb micro SDHC)

I need help with my Sansa Sandisk e250R

To fix it, format your Sansa. I had the exact problem. Plug it in, then in "My Computer" right click its icon and hit format. Do not select quick format. Then it will be fixed.
