I went through the system and reprogramed the channels with auto scan channels and I now have signal but I have had to program channels twice now.

I have the magnavox converter box and all of a sudden there was nothing. Just a blank screen on my tv (Snow). I checked the connections and nothing.

When I first did the set up I had only channel 50.

Then when I changed the channel I lost that channel.

I have double checked all my plugs and had even tried to only have the TV and antenna connected, to no help.

I'll try to move the antenna around. *crosses fingers*

No signal usually means the television is not set to the same input the converter is hooked up to.

Do you have your converter box hooked up to an antenea? If so, if you move the antenea, then you may have to reprogram the channels through the converter box. This happened to us. So, we played around with the antenea until we found the most channels came through and marked the area around the antenea (you can use tape, or if you do not care a permanet marker like us. Note our antenea sits on top of our tv.) We have not had any trouble since. We marked the place for the antenea, in case someone moves it or so we can try to get more channels when the final switch happens. We gain a lot of stations, but lost only one.

Hope this helps,
The Gordons :)

Box was working, tv now back to analog

Sounds like the converter didn't make it. The symptoms you describe sound like the converter was working and then died. You may want to bring it back to store were you got it.

DTV converter automatically shits off

Hi,

I just checked mine after reading your problem. I have a Magnavox converter. On the Setup Menu, there is a selection called Detail. One of the options on Detail is Auto Power Down. There are 4 choices in this: 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours, and OFF. Select OFF, then OK on your remote and exit the menu.

My Magnavox may be a little different, but there should be a menu item to turn it off.

Converter Box Problem

If you are receiving digital signal and channel is fuzzy, something wrong. Only Analog signal is fuzzy. With Digital it is great picture or nothing. For channel 6, check to see if they are broadcasting in digital yet. If they are not, this is why you are not getting a signal. If they are broadcasting in digital, then you need a stronger antenna.

Is a booster needed for the tb100mw9 dtv converter box?

Best solution would be to use an outdoor antenna with an amplifier(booster)--but in some areas you may get by with an amplified set top antenna. Just all depends on your location..

In perspective, I have an outdoor UHF dish and 10 foot VHF antennas with an amplifier and still i get only fair reception on outlying digital stations that normally come in clear on analog.

Also--this converter box must complete the autoscan with an antenna attached, or else you'll receive NOTHING; not even by manually selecting a known digital channel.

This #@!! box automatically locks out what it considers to be unused or weak channels. It makes the decisions and you're left with 'no signal' messages and nothing to do but try a rescan.....and you cannot add channels to any it has already found.

NO SIGNAL on Magnavox TB100MW9 converter

Rabbit ears are not strong enough to pik up the digital signal. You need to buy a DIGITAL antenna. You can pick a powered one up at Wal-Mart, or any retailer for around 20 bucks. Once you have the proper type of antenna, go through the setup sequence again and then you will be in the "digital age". You will wonder why they didn't do this sooner!

You need to get a converter with an "analog passthrough". The magnavox converter that you have is blocking the analog signal from reaching your TV's tuner. The RCA converters that your friends have must have the analog passthough feature that not all converters have.

How to connect my dvd & vcr with the converter box

Here is my setup.
1) Separate DVD player 2) Separate VCR 3) Digital to Analog Converter box 4) Analog TV 5) Rabbit ears (UHF/VHF) antenna
The antenna goes into the converter box.   The RF-output of the converter goes into the RF-Input of the VCR The DVD output goes into the front input jacks of the VCR The VCR RF-output goes into the TV RF-Input The VCR Line output goes into the front of the TV
To watch DVDs, we turn on the DVD player, turn on the VCR, and set the VCR channel to L2, and tune the TV to channel 3.  The converter is off.
To auto record on the VCR, the converter must be tuned to the station being recorded.  The converted must be turned on, the TV can be off.
To watch VCR tapes, turn the TV and VCR on.  The TV is set to channel 3.  Just press play on the VCR.
To Watch TV.   Turn the TV and converter on.  The TV is set to channel 3.   Change the stations using the converter.
