Question about Dell Latitude D600 Notebook

Wanted: replacement display screen - Samsung 14.1"

My Dell Latitude D600 laptop needs a replacement display screen, a Samsung LTN141P4, SXGA+, 14.1", 1400 X 1050 resolution - new or used.

Does anybody have or know where to get one? Dell has none, Samsung will not allow direct orders, and the only 3 distributors cited by Samsung's website have none in stock, and are not optimistic about getting a good response for an order for 1 unit. Help!

Thanks, Rakesh. I discovered another site after posting my question, and was delighted to see so many options. Dell Spare Parts told me yesterday that they were out of stock, but I see that the link you sent indicates that they have some.

In any case, fan that I am of anything Dell, I think I'll go with a refurbished one as this laptop is in its 4th year.

I see that you call yourself a Dell Expert. In my opinion Dell continues to be the Gold standard in tech support. Your quick response and range of options was much appreciated.

I disassembled and reassembled the laptop yesterday using the Dell website instructions. All went well, so when I get the part I expect to sail through the replacement. If I run into a snag, you'll hear from me.

    Thanks again!

Rakesh, this product has a different part number, but appears to be correct. Is it? I like the 90 day warranty rather than the 30 offered by others at this price - it's the $150 one. Thanks again.

Rakesh, I received and installed a used SXGA, and it looks good. But now my mouse repeatedly "drifts" around the screen and I have to wait for control. I uninstalled and reinstalled my remote Logitech mouse and then noticed that it doesn't matter whether I use the touchpad or the remote mouse, so I don't think it's the driver. Almost feels like a "magnetic" issue. Any recommendations?

    Thanks
I would like to help you on replacing the monitor as well once you have bought. If you need help let me know I would be able to assist you in that. You opinion is really appreciated. Dell has the best tech support and from my experiences of using different online support websites dell website is the best where you can get manuals and downloads and they are all centralized. Its much better than HP. HP website if i need to find a driver i need to browse atleast some 5 pages. Dell website is much simple and great.

Do let me know if there is something I can do for you.

    Thank you

How do I replace the entire screen assembly on my dell latitude d600 laptop?

Basically you need to remove the hinges that attach the screen to the bottom of the laptop.
For instructions refer to these WEB sites.
Replacing a hinge, or both of them, isn't very tough.

The backlight won't turn on but occasionally will flicker.

Suggest you replace the Inverter. A Backlight goes out all at once.
90% of the time the Inverter is the hardware part at fault.

[ An LCD screen cannot produce enough light by itself.
A Backlight is used to supply the needed extra lighting.
A Backlight is a CCFL.
Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp.
Similar to Fluorescent lighting used in homes, and businesses, but on a much smaller scale

An Inverter is used to required power for the LCD screen, and the Backlight.
Boosts power up for the LCD screen, brings it down for the Backlight.

Dell Support > Latitude D600 Notebook PC > Service Manual

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/latd600/en/sm/index.htm

Replacing an Inverter is a simple job. Replacing a Backlight is not.
The Backlight is located within the LCD screen assembly.

The metal frame of the LCD screen assembly is removed along the edge where the Backlight is located, to access replacing the Backlight.

In the above list for Service Manual, click on > Display Assembly and Display Latch.

This information shows you where the Inverter is located on a Dell Latitude D620 Notebook PC.
The Latitude D620 is part of the Latitude D600 series of Notebook PC's.

http://www.insidemylaptop.com/remove-replace-lcd-screen-dell-latitude-d620-laptop/

Just one place from a quick search, that sells Inverters for a Latitude D600 series Notebook PC,

http://www.parts-people.com/index.php?action=item&id=2895

MATCH the part number listed that they have, to the part number on your Inverter.
You have to have THE correct Inverter.

Finding compatible replacement LCD for my Dell Latitude D600

Since you will need to open your computer and remove the screen to replace it, I suggest you remove it now and look up the part number on it. Then you'll now exactly want part you laptop has.

Alternatively, you can also get a copy of SiSoft Sandra and run it. It should give you the screen make and model

Dell Latitude D510 Screen Failed

Hello,

The 14.1" inch screen is compatible with Latitude models D500, D505, D510, D600, D610 and Inspiron models 500m, 510m, 600m.

You may also need a screen inverter - in fact that is often the reason a screen is considered to be failing. The lcd inverter can be one of the most common items to become defective in a laptop computer. You may need a lcd inverter replacement if your screen is dim, dark, colored oddly, blinking, flickering or has dark stripes. Just something to keep in mind.
Hope this helps,

Chris

The flickering may not be caused by a corrupt driver, it could be the impending failure of the fluorescent back light of the display or its high voltage supply.

Trying driver replacement though is the first thing to try.
If the original driver is corrupt, you can try the following;

- Right-click on My Computer
- Left-click on Properties
- Click on Hardware tab
- Click on Device Manager
- Locate and open Display Adaptors
- Locate the video listing for your
- Highlight and delete this
- Reboot the computer

If Windows does what it should (no guarantee on this!), it will 'find' a 'new device' and install the driver for it.
