Question about Vivitar ViviCam 3915 Digital Camera
You had switched the slider button to the portrait mode which had the flash suppressed. This slider button is located right under the lens. Now with the camera front facing yourself, find that button and slide it to your right hand side which has a indicator like one small and one big hill. This is called the landscape mode. The other side is the so called portrait mode, and the indicator looks like the head of a person. This mode is for closer range picture taking. i.e. 3-5 feet far from lens. It is because this camera has no close-up focus. The minimum distant of subject being taken has to be 3 feet away from lens before you can get a sharp and nice picture. Now, remember not to use this switch mode for closer range if you need flash for picture taking. There is a scene mode in the menu to select with portrait that allow use of flash. Also a Landscape mode with flash suppression, which is good for taking picture through a glass window. Paul

Well you probably cannot- the tube or the capacitor have malfunctioned. Try the Vivitar Tech Support team in their website - but I guess it is new camera time unless it has warranty left.
