Question about LG DRN-8080-B for Dell Inspiron Series DVD Drive
I have bought a s-video cable to enable me to watch my laptop through the tv. For all other purposes it works, however, I cannot watch dvds played on my laptop through my tv as the discs are copy protected. Is there anyway to enable me to watch the dvds on my tv using my laptop?
The DVD software is CyberLink PowerDVD.
Here's what's happening... software companies like CyberLink subscribe to the Macrovision requirements for playing DVDs and protecting copyrighted materials.
Macrovision has approved numerous video cards for what they call "TV Out" which allows the movie to be displayed on your TV.
Unfortunately, your Dell Inspiron does not have a Macrovision approved and supported video card in it, so it gives instructions to the computer to disable TV Out and not allow it to play anywhere besides the computer.
