Question about Microwave Ovens

1 Answer

Microwave is not working - no power

It stopped working. It did not trip the breaker. There is power coming from the receptacle but no light on the display. I think it is fried. I bought it less than a year ago.

My Kenmore Elite Microhood just stopped working. No power, no nothing. It has power from the outlet, but no power in the system at all. I was using it to cook potatoes and it just stopped in the middle of cooking. Service man thought it was a fuse, it was not, all fuses are good. Any help with this would be appreciated.

We took the microwave back to Wal Mart and they replaced it no problem even without a receipt. Unfortunately it is now discontinued and we could not get a black one.

    Since
it's less than one year old, it should be fully covered under warranty.
I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to get it fixed free.

If you don't have their contact info or your owner's manual, please reply back with your brand and model number so we can help you.

Your magnetron's thermostat (or thermal cutout / TCO) probably failed. Please create a new post and include your full model number and repeat this whole paragraph:

On breaker 7 that runs the lights and receptacles in 2 bedrooms, the light in my crawlspace, the light in the attic, two ceiling lights in the kitchen (but no receptacles), and the outlet for the...

1) You must see if the circuit where the microwave is overload, you must use the amperimeter and see how many amperes are reading when all the load in the circuit 7 are running. if is normal about 10amp-12amps the circuit is o.k
2) test the c.breaker can be faulty, since there are NOT tripped.
3) However you must see if the lines for power in that circuit is loose?
4) Tight very well the Neutral +Ground
5) see the diagram attached, and correct if the outlet is wrong.
6) If you are NOT qualified to do this electrical job , call some electrician for to avoid danger to your home or yourself.

Of course you must test the microwave magnetron for faulty or short in the magnetron+diode+transformer+capacitor. ISOLATED the microwave first and then troubleshooting the circuit of your home.
God bless you

New microwave stopped working after 15 seconds

Possibly the fuse / breaker is tripped, usually all outlets in one room share same breaker. Check breakers (or fuses) or try outlet in differnt room. If the outlet has power, (plugin a lamp to check) and the microwave still does not work, take it back to store for replacement or refund.

No power to clock or microwave. Have checked breakers.

The main fuse in the microwave oven has probably blown, caused by a defective door.

I went to use my mirowave & it is completely gone. I pushed every button that I could & nothing happens. What should I do

first check the breaker in the electrical panel. your microwave should be on a circuit with nothing else. Depending on when the house was constructed. If the breaker is tripped turn it off and back on. If the microwave is plugged into a gfic outlet check to see if the receptacle needs reset. There will be a reset button on the receptacle. Their may be a orange light on the receptacle.

Whirlpool Range RF315PXDW. Electric range. Top burners and oven will not turn on. Clock on top of stove and oven light turn on. Oven preheat timer operates but heating elements in oven do not turn on....

It sounds like you are missing part of your input voltage.

I would take a voltage reading at the receptacle and confirm you are reading 220-240VAC. Some homes have the 220 service receptacles wired up with two 120 volt breakers to make up your 220 service. If your home is configured this way, you may have one of the breakers tripped. Or, the receptacle itself may be bad. If you confirm you have the correct voltage at the receptacle, your power cord may be bad.

The reason the clock and display will still appear to work is because the clock only uses 110-120VAC and is tapped off the source voltage. The surface burners and the oven heating elements, however, require the full 220 service.

If you are confused by this explanation, please post back and let me know. Hopefully, this is a problem that will not require any parts or a service call. If the power cord is bad, you can purchase a replacement at any hardware store. I hope this information is helpful.

Powers on will not work

Check the breaker . A microwave oven should have a dedicated circuit plug a lamp in the oven plug in if it comes on you have another problem if it wont come on flip the breaker they can trip just enough that you cant see it is tripped flip it all the way off then flip it back on again see if it works. You might have to do this a few times even if light clock comes on it might be tripped just enough to not let enough power come through use a multi meter if you have one to check the current.

Ck and make sure the circuit breaker on the power panel on the house hasn't tripped.. If your microwave is within 6' of the kitchen sink, ck for a tripped GFCI controlling the power the microwave is plugged into. Good Luck, Ned

Dead microwave

There are replacable fuses inside. Taking the microwave apart requires removal of a lot of screws and the cover that can be rather bulky. make sure it's unplugged and safe before you begin. you can get replacement fuses at radio shack, ect. be sure to buy the same type and amperage. if the blow a second time there may be other issues.
