Acer Aspire 5320 won't start up

I think my acer might have overheated, and now it won't start up at all! I managed to get it to start once in safe mode, but otherwise I get the blue screen, or it just goes as far as the logging in "welcome" screen, but won't open up! Most of the time it simply stays stuck on the loading screen!
I went to open it up and take a look at the fan as it's past warranty, (just!), but it didn't seem to want to open up there either!
Any suggestions please?

Hi there
If you can boot into safe mode perform a system restore, this may sort the boot problems you are having.
post back if you still have problems

Good luck

Ok, your PC has not overheated, your system has been infected with a virus which has wiped out all the restore points.
This means you have to recover the operating system either by recovery CD or clean install.
If you have important documents on the drive you have to connect the hard drive to another computer and get your data before you reinstall the operating system

1. Restart the Acer Aspire netbook by pressing the "power" button on the netbook's keyboard or by pressing the "CTRL," "ALT" and "DEL" keys at the same time.
2. During startup, hold down the "F8" function key immediately when you see the "Acer" splash screen and the option for entering "Setup."

3. Keep pressing the "F8" key until the "Advanced Boot Options" menu appears.
If you receive a "keyboard error," restart the Acer Aspire and repeat step 2.

4. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "Safe Mode" selection on the "Advanced Boot Options" menu.
The arrow keys are located on the right-hand side of the Acer Aspire keyboard.

5. Press the "Enter" key to execute the "Safe Mode" selection.
The Windows operating system will now start in "Safe Mode" and you can perform a system restore or make needed changes to get your Acer Aspire to boot normally again.

F10+alt don't work to reset acer aspire one to factory setting. what else can i do

Hi twillis84.
You will need to start your computer in the "Safe Mode", you do this by tapping F8 while the computer is starting up.
Once the computer has started, select "Safe Mode" you have two choices.
I would try "A" first.
A...You can do a System Restore from here.
You will click "Start">All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore, this will restore your system to an earlier time when it was operating properly.
B...Once you are in the safe mode, then you will double left click on "Start">Control Panel>User Accounts>Change an Account.
Now you can change your password, delete the account, etc.

3.You may be prompted to enter or create a password. This password will be required to use eRecovery in the future.

5.Choose Reinstall Drivers or Applications
6.Choose Contents
7.Choose the driver or application you wish to install

First, BACKUP WHAT YOU WANT!!!!! IT WILL BE GONE WHEN YOU FINISH!!!!! If you cannot get to your files, start in safe mode and collect them. if you cannot get to safe mode. grab a linux live cd, such as knoppix, you can boot a whole linux os from cd without installing and retrieve your files VIRUS FREE!!!!! once you feel you have backed up what you want to keep follow these insructions.

    • 1 Reboot your computer. As the computer comes on, click the "F2" key on your keyboard. This will activate the BIOS utility screen.
    • 2 Locate the Acer disk-to-disk recovery system on the first screen of BIOS and click the box to enable it. This will allow you to reset the computer without a recovery disk. Save your settings and exit BIOS per the instructions on the screen.

    • 3 Restart the computer.

My aspire T671 won't boot passed the acer splash

restart your computer repeatedly tapping the f8 key to enter safe mode while the screen is black once in safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse allowing you to attempt to repair your computer

you could select the option start at last known configuration that worked this will tell you if and what file has been corrupted or missing then you will know if its a hardware issue then select restart if the problem still persists f8 back into safe mode you might need to select your operating system to load into safe mode

click start control panel administration tools computer management in the left panel events + to expand then system you will see all errors in right panel right click select properties this will tell you what has occurred and the time it occurred

you might use the system restore to restore your system to an earlier time click start all programs accessories system tools you should see your system restore option if it is a hardware issue the system restore might not work
hope this helps you

Aspire 2920 won`t start up

As it's rebooting try tapping the F8 key to get to safe mode. Choose Safe Mode with cmd prompt first. Once your pc starts enter the text chkdsk /f in the black DOS box and reboot. The laptop should go though a check disk and fix problems. May not completely repair your laptop, but it's a start.
