I had same prob when I changed filter first time...if it is up in the top corner of fridge, you'll need some kind of rubber gripper to use cause the condensation makes the filter holder slippery. Just grab on to it and turn counterclockwise. It should just screw out, take out the old filter, replace w/new and screw back in. On some fridges, the whole part you screwed out has to be replaced instead of just a filter inside it. Hope this helps.

Cut water supply off to frig disconnect water supply line to frig water inlet valve turn water back on to make sure you are getting good water supplied to water inlet valve some times water cut off gets stopped up. If you are getting good water flow to water inlet valve then check to make water valve is opening up all the way. if not then replace valve.

Wate Filter Light stays on after filter has been changed.

  • After changing your water filter you have to reset the light for it to go off as it does not reset right away.
  1. Just press and hold the "FIGHT" and "LOCK" buttons until the water filter light flashes. Now the light will be off.
  2. Don't forget to run a couple gallons of water through the new filter to remove any carbon out of the incoming water after installing a new water filter. This is not poisonous by any mean but it can leave a bitter taste in your mouth until the carbon wears off.

  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Am attempting to change an in grill water filter for my whirlpool side by side fridge, and cartridge seems jammed, cannot turn anti-clock wise to release. Do not want to force in case I break it. Any...

Use one wrench to hold the water line and another one on the filter to avoid braking the line, the filter should give up.

Water flow is very slow almost a dribble - we have changed filter and that did not improve the flow When frig was new water flow was very high

ck the walve that was installe on cold water it is gone bad and needs replace ment . do use one that you drill pipe 1/4 in and it alow the water to flow . the small pin pircing type will corrode over and slow the wate or stop the water .. mm

How do I change the water filter in the refrigerator?

down in the front grill at the bottom of the fridge you will see the filter and just the the left of it you will see a button. push the button in and that will pop the filter out a bit. pull it out and put the black cover that was on your old filter and put on your new one. then just push it in

My brand new side by side with exterior ice/water dispenser barely dispenses water. It comes out in a tiny stream that after a few seconds only drips out. Why?

you might want to check the shut off valve on the house end. follow where the wate line goes and see if it is a self percing valve. if it is shut it off all the way to re-tap the cold water line on the house end. if there is a filter on the line with also cause this problem. Is the waterline new? if so it might not be tapped all the way.
