Question about Olympus FE-210 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Zoom broken my camera was on then bed & the zoom was out to normal level. i tripped and fell on it & now the inner bit of the zoom is wedged at an andgle and wont move. i tried turning the camera on to see if it could move it at all itself and the mechanism tries 5 times then gives up and the camera turns off without turning the screen on. Does this sound fixable as i only got it xmas '07 and my dad never took out the insurance. If yes any ideas where I could take it/send it to get it fixed? I live in the Milton Keynes area and really don't want to have to get a new one (well cant afford to)

The impact damaged has jammed you lens assembly. I see these all the time in my shop. If it can be repaired without parts a shop should be able to do it for you for around $75. If it needs a new lens however it will not be worth the cost (the parts alone would cost about $50). I think though from your description it is probably repairable without parts. Please contact me if you need any more help

When I zoom in or out there a noise made by the camera while zoominh in/out

hi,
it is normal to listen a bit of noise because the zoom motor is not always really silent, and if your sound recording level is hight and there is not much action going, then you'll ear the motors,
sometimes it can be because of too much using it (if it didn't make same noise when new)
cheers,
mich

My camera dropped and both lens fell out need to reasemble

It does not pay to fix this camera. This camera can be bought on Amazon for about $55. A brand new camera with specifications that blow away the Olympus can be bought for less than $100.

Sorry for not instructing you on repairing this camera, but you won't find any reputable person that would repair it.

Broken battery compartment door switch

The switch is a micro switch that is depressed(and not sad :)) by a plastic tag moulded on the battery cover. Once the cover is moved into position and closed, the tag presses on the micro switch closing the switch and thus removing the error message. As with any switch, a switch is simply open or closed, Open = high resistance or O/L, while closed = 0 ohms reistance. You can use a small wire to overcome the switch by soldering the wire to both tags of the switch so it is permenantly 0 ohms. This will send a message to the microprocessor that cover is closed and camera ready for use. Hope this helps.

Try resetting the camera. More than likely you are going to have to send it into repairs but try that first.

It will be grainy a bit specially in digital zoom and even in optical zoom to the full level it might become grainy as camera is unable to absorb all the light from distant object......

Faulty zoom mechanism

Your lens will need to be disassembled, and most likely replaced.  If the lens housing inside is not broken, it can possibly be repaired.  Otherwise, the lens assembly will need to be replaced.
