Question about Olympus FE-210 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Broken zoom my camera was on so the zoom was out and i tripped and landed on it. now the inner part of the zoom is sat at an angle, wont move in or out & when i turn it on you can hear it attempt to push it out fully 5 times while the orange light flashes and then it gives up and turns off without the screen starting up. Does it sound fixable or is it time for a new camera? I only got it last xmas. Any idea where the best place to take it for fixing is? I'm based in Milton Keynes

You may want to call Olympus Customer Service to discuss their repair policy and procedures. They will have suggestion as far as repair goes or give you a local place to take it for service. Their telephone number is 800-622-6372 option 2 and then option 3.

Zoom lenses is extended but wont go back in

Switch on and PRESS the "wide angle" selector switch. (in camera mode)
Now the lens should move partially back in.
If it does not move inwards at all and you do not hear a whirring noise, then the activator motor is defect.(or the lens assy is out of alignment). (or a foreign object has entered the gearing, and stalling the motor)
If you do hear the motor running, then a gear might be stripped.
All these faults do require to take the camera apart.

Zoom broken

The impact damaged has jammed you lens assembly. I see these all the time in my shop. If it can be repaired without parts a shop should be able to do it for you for around $75. If it needs a new lens however it will not be worth the cost (the parts alone would cost about $50). I think though from your description it is probably repairable without parts. Camera lense

May not be repairable, but try this, put a block of wood ( approx. 2in X 6in ) on the end that is pushed in, on a angle and while holding steady tap it out with a light hammer. It should pop the lens back to orig. position. Turn the focus ring and it should turn smoothly.
I have used this method many times with about 80% success rate.

Camera

My daughter just had this problem with her camera. The camera was off with the lens barrel extended. When I looked at it closely, I noticed that the inner part of the lens barrel was at a slight angle to the camera. I pushed firmly on the low side of the inner part of the barrel, and it popped the rest of the way out. Camera works fine now. Good luck!

Shaking Photography

Here you will find the tips for taking better photos with less camera shaking. Tips 1. Composing and holding the camera with less camera shaking. For clearer images, hold the camera firmly not to cause camera shaking. 1) For maximum stability, hold the camera firmly well over the grip and keep your right elbow lightly pressed against your body. 2) Support the lens or the camera body with your left hand from below. 3) Look into the optical viewfinder as if pressing your forehead to the camera. 4) Do not stand straight, but with one foot stepping forward for taking better balance of your body. 2. Change the composing and holding the camera according to the situation for securer photographing. (Particularly when you take photos using the LCD monitor.) 1) Lean against the wall. 2) Put the camera on a fixed object like a table. 3) Ensure the camera holding by pressing the elbow against the handrail. 4) Use the tripod. 3. Move the zoom control towards wide-angle if your camera has the zoom function. Moving the zoom control towards tele-angle, camera-shaking will easily happen. If your camera has the zoom function, we advise you to take photos by zooming towards wide-angle. 4. Higher shutter speed will produce better images. Slower shutter speed may produce more possible camera-shaking. If your camera has a choice of shutter speeds, we advise you to select higher shutter speed for less camera shaking.
