Ive got a usb turntable ion TTUSB05XL, I was using it with Windows XP, I now have Windows Vista and the leaflet which came with the turntable says to download the latest software to use with Vista. The installation disc as supplied is Version 3.1 The download is Version 2.1 Which version should I use. Thanks for any help. Joe.

you might need a driver check there site. I personally dont deal or own anything made by ion and ive been djing for years. but im guessing there might be some driver you would need since vista is weird like that. good luck if you got any questions feel free to email me at email@example.com
here is what ION is telling people (short version) this is for vista or win7
1. Visit www.ionaudio.com/ezvc to download the latest EZ Converter software. 2.install new software if needed, 3. connect ION Audio USB. make sure its ON (if it has a switch) Setup Procedure 1.Start thenControl Panel. 2.double-click Hardware and Sound. 3.double-click Sound. 4. At top select Playback tab.choose the audio output device. Don’t chose “speakers-usb audio codec” (that’s your ION) don’t chose modem 5. click Set Default. 6. select Recording tab at top of Sound Control Panel.choose "Microphone – USB Audio Codec" as the default device. (that’s the ION) 7. Click Set Default. 8. click Properties.select Advanced tab 9.set the Default Format setting to 2-channel, 16 bit 44100 Hz (CD Quality). 10. Un-check the two boxes under Exclusive Mode. Click Apply 11. select Levels tab from the top of the Sound Control Panel. 12. Set the level slider to 4. Click Apply, click OK to close the window. You can record the entire album, both sides without having to press next. When the entire album has been recorded then press next, you will a dialog box that allows you to name the album and songs. Make sure you have the most up to date software from the ION website- that is if you have an ION turntable. Go to ION website and locate your turntable- software will be on that page. Run it and it should correct any problems.
Just guessing, but it sounds like you haven't counterbalanced your tone arm. When a tone arm skips, it's usually because there's too much counter weight on the rear of the tone arm. You want between 3-5 grams, but first you have to calibrate your tone arm (balance it so you know where zero is). If you don't know how to do this, refer to the Ion directions called "Tonearm Setup" in the instructions.
