Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I purchased a Netgear Wireless-N Router (WNR2000)last week, and it has given me continual headaches. I can access internet wirelessly with no problem at times (for hours even without being dropped). But when I shut down the computer at night and start it up the next day, I have trouble connecting. I've tried shutting down the laptop, then the router, then the modem in that order several times, and I still can't connect wirelessly. When I connect directly to the modem, everything is fine. When I connect to the router's LAN port, everything is fine. But as soon as I disconnect the ethernet cable and try to access my wireless network (which has excellent signal strength), I lose internet access. Even with the computer and router inches away from each other. I think I'm losing my mind. Any ideas? Jeremy

Wireless routers can operate at the same exact frequency as cordless phones. Try switching to another frequency in the router configuration.

I have purchased a NETGEAR wireless n router WNR2000 every time my son goes on his laptop and connects to the internet it connects and then it drops out and it keeps doing that what can I do

if it is a 2.4 giga hertz router, then make sure the router or laptop are away from cordless phones or microwave ovens, as most of these operate near the same frequency. Also, double check the wireless settings on both the router and laptop to make sure both are the same. Hope this helps!
