The steps for changing the fluid on rear projection televisions are generally the same.

You will need new fluid (Can be purchased from http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/20-4275 MCM Electronics)
Denatured alcohol (basically, rubbing alcohol)
Something to scrub the inside with (I prefer good ol' pipe cleaners, available at any craft store)

You'll have to remove the CRT, and take off the lense assembly. NOT THE SEALED ONE

The fill hole for the fluid is usually just a big flat phillips head screw. Remove it.

Drain out the old fluid

Using the alcohol and pipe cleaners, try and remove as much buildup as possible.

Clean thoroughly and let dry.

Refill with new fluid, replace the plug and clean the CRT.

Reassemble the whole deal, being extremely careful not to disturb the yokes (this will put the red/green/blue pictures out of alignment, causing more work) and fire it up. You should be good to go!

Hope that helps!

Bluish screen whites really bright background really dark it was fine untill some one messed with the color

Their is a CRT fluid that keeps the three lenses cool ontop of the tubes. The fluid goes bad after a few years and causes what you describe.

I have a PTV916 Model # 60P8341A. I cleaned the lenses and the mirror inside the TV however, I can see alot of dust inside the actual lens. Is it possible to clean the inside of the lenses?

ll projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both.

CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Hazy yellow spot in the left lower corner of the screen

It could be a cob web inside the tv or something laying on one of the guns, like a dead bug. If it's a cob web, you should be able to move the tv a little side to side and see it change from the moving air current. I would remove the back and vacuum off the lenses of the guns and look for cob webs. It's safe to touch and clean the lenses, just don't touch any electronics. If this doesn't fix it, it's probably fluid starting to cloud up in the guns or IC chip problems.

Color & sharpness problem

Sounds like you need Coolant fluid change, this is the fluid under the Lenses. If you have not done this before I suggest that you get some one who is qualified. Because if the coolant leaks and get to the circuit board, there goes your tv. You need new fluid in the 3 CRT's. If you look down with the back off and looking in the lense, you would see contamination in the fluid, this needs to be taken out and cleaned and replaced with new fluid. The fluid can come from places like MCM electronics corp.
