Hard drive erased

Thanks for your help. I will contact dish again & talk to tech. Before I do, can you tell me the proper avg. temp for this dvr & what the high temp. shouldn't go over? Thanks again for all your help.

FYI I found the avg & high temp. I think on the same list as the values 1-9. My high was 104 & wanted to make sure it wasn't too much. Thanks again

Once the receiver reaches a temperature of 144 degrees a message will appear stating that fact. All normal operation of the receiver will cease. If this continues to occur, the receiver will need to be replaced. I hope this helps.

As far as actual temperature,no but the receiver should be warm. Enough heat will be produced to generate a strong warm sensation but if your hand gets to the point of being uncomfortable to being held on the receiver or it feels that it may burn you it is definitely getting to hot. Causes of overheating are usually caused by obstructions to the air flow vents on the receiver therefore there must be at least a three inch clearance around the receiver. If you keep the receiver in a confined space or place something on top of it it may cause the receiver to overheat also. I have never been given an actual temperature reading for the DVR under any circumstances. Please let me know the outcome of your issue. If you need further assistance please contact me. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

My hard drive erased

Hi kindstns,

I am sorry to hear the hard drive was deleted. This is usually relating to some kind of hard drive failure in the equipment. If this has happened more than once, or if it happens again, let me know. We may need to replace the receiver.

You can reach me here or at thomas.faust@dish.com for any assistance!

Hi gehrlichman, my name is Mike Houston of DISH Network andI was going over your post and seen where you were asking about an externalhard drive to get the recordings off your 625 DVR receiver. To do that you willneed to upgrade to our VIP HD series receivers, if you get the HD DVR receiveryou will be able to add an External Hard Drive to get the recordings off. Iwill send a link to tell you all of what's needed.http://www.dishnetwork.com/SupportSection/use-ehd

Tech support tells me that hard drive failed, but I have valuable recordings that I need.

Hey there! Becki Barned with Dish Network here! I am sorry about losing recordings. :( That is an unfortunate event that can happen at times. You do, however, always have the option of connecting an external hard drive to your receiver, and keeping the dvr events on there! It is $40 to get it started on your account, then you are free to download anything after that! It is a great feature, and if you have to lose your recordings again, you could look into that! Here is a link on our website if you want to look into it further. Enjoy! http://www.dishnetwork.com/SupportSection/use-ehd

Dish 510 DVR that wont record properly or play paused TV show

Make sure that the software is correct. Should be P4.07
you can go into the DVR and replace the hard drive but I would suggest getting Dish Home Plan, Replace the receiver and then cancel the Home Plan. Talk to Dish Network and they will work with you.

You must be talking about the 522 DVR. If so then there could be issues with your hard drive or a cableing issue. be sure to connect all sat in connections and if you conitune to have this issue call 1-800-333-3474 for tech support as your issue could take extensive troubleshooting. More than likely your will get a replacement DVR and if you still have the same issue then a tech will need to come out to check cableing, ground and lnb's on your dish.

ArmyMason,
Unfortunately as a Dish Network Employee I must inform you that acording to Dish that is not possible however a good computer tech may be able to help you with a work around but keep in mind that if any damage occurs to the receiver that Dish will charge you for the receiver. When you do upgrade check into the receiver models that have an expansion port for an external hard drive. A 211 which is a solo hidefinition receiver without DVR can have a port activated for as one time charge of 39.99 and you can use the hard drive you supply as the DVR. Yoiu also will not be accessed the 5.98 DVR fee every month and if the receiver needs replacing you still have your recordings. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

Dish Network DVR VIP722 freezing up during playback

You more than likely are 100 percent correct. This is often the cause of the issue you had. The good news is that once the new receiver is in place you normally will not have any other issues as this receiver model is very reliable. One thing to consider is that Dish has some HD receivers available e.g. 222 etc that are non DVR but can act as a DVR unit with an external hard drive connected to the USB expansion port. This option gives you greater control of your recordings and eliminates the monthly DVR fee. There is a one time fee of 39.99 to make the USB port active but within the normal 24 month contract period that customers are often under one will have recovered all of the cost a the hard drive and the port activation fee. Just fodder for thought.
