GE Profile DW keeps restarting PDW8200

The past couple of days our DW is possessed.  It keeps beeping and starting a new cycle.  Last night when I went to bed at 12, I started the DW.  This morning at 6:30, I heard it beep, and then began to fill with water.  This has happened on a few occasions so far.

SOURCE: start button on the HMI won't work

There is a ribbon cable that connects to the control panel. Mine was operating the same as yours. I opened up the front and reinserted the cable and its been fine ever since. you need to take all the screws out from the door panel inside the washer to geet to it.

SOURCE: i have a ge profile pdw8200 dishwasher. it go thru

Check the electrical connections where the power enters the dishwasher. (behind the lower kickplate, on the right side of the machine) Open the metal cover, hold on one of the twist on wire connectors, and firmly tug each wire to make sure none are loose. Check all the wires. There is a good chance one of the wires will come right out of the twist on wire connector when given a tug. Correct the poor connection, and you should be good to go.

SOURCE: GE Profile Dishwasher PDW7300 Died on me!

Thanks for the pointer on the arcing. Funny thing is .. I did the electrical myself and I always make sure things are tight and connected properly. Was a little shocked to see the melted wires and caps. I soldered them this time .. if it happens again it was not arcing. Im going to check with GE and see if there was a recall or not. The wires to the washer seem a little too high gauge to me.

Sounds like a poor install. If the hoses aren't collected correctly heat from water could cause expansion therefore looser doors and hinges. Make sure the water connections are tight and then check the screws at the bottom of the door. you shouldn't need a pro to fix.

I try to start my GE Profile Dishwasher and nothing happens after I press start except for a click. Is my water pump busted? The dishwasher powers on ok.

Here is a list to trouble shoot your DW. Cross off each item as you go. If this is a new DW..... less than a year old..... it may be under installers warrantee and definitely is under a manufacturers warrantee. Keep that in mind as you go.

Look also at your owners manual for troubleshooting help.

Try placing a packet in the bottom of the DW and then start a wash cycle ( use the energy efficient cycle that does not use the heater to dry the dishes..).. if it is not disolved at the end of the cycle then your water temp may not be hot enough..Hope that helps..

GE DW beeps and won't start

look for parts for the unit. you indicate its defective. if you can't replace the parts yourself, then you will need to get a repairman in for that.
be careful regarding the cost. some home repairs cost more than a new unit, so if its a base level unit (low cost) you might want to consider a new unit. you can also save money by taking the unit in to the service center. call first and work out a deal in advance. this only makes sense if you have a lot of free time and do not value you time very much.
good luck
