Question about ASUS Eee 4G Notebook

1 Answer

My computer won't respond, can't open anything.

I can't open anything apart from games on my Eee PC 4G. Anything I click on has the hourglass appear for a few seconds and then nothing. I have tried the System Recovery (restore factory settings) but still no change. Any help appreciated!

Thanks again. I should have said that my Eee Pc runs Linux with Firefox, Open Office etc. If it was Windows I might be better off, but this seems a bit harder. Any help appreciated still!

Hi there
check the hard drive for bad sectors and recover them if you can, this could be the reason for the system hanging

Good luck and kind regards

Ok, what you have to do is go to "my computer" or "computer" if you use Vista, right click on "local Disk C" and select "properties" then select the "tools" tab and check the volume for errors, make sure you check both boxes that say "automatically fix file system errors" and "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors"
This process takes about half an hour so please be patient, if it finds any errors it will fix them.
    Any problems post back

    Good luck

    Hi again
Because you use Linux its quite hard for you to perform a surface scan on the drive. What you could do is go to the Linux forum and download a disk check program which will allow you to check the HDD for any problems, there are plenty of open source software out there just check on the forums for the best one and make sure it is compatible with the Linux version you are using

    good luck

I launched my Eee PC 4G PC and then showed me the screen and carry name appears on a blue screen with the letters, but did not have time to read anything and then again from the same, please help

A blue screen is most commonly caused by faulty hardware, either faulty RAM or Hard drive but it can sometimes be software related, if you got any restore discs with the wee laptop boot up with them and try repairing, if that fails, take it to a computer engineer and he/she should be able to tell you what it is. If it is RAM you should be able to get it replaced for around £20 if it is the HDD around £40-50, although I think those Eee PCs have built in memory so I would sway towards the RAM.

Hope this helped and if you have any more problems or if you get it sorted let me know

Eee PC does not turn on!!

there could be a variety of problems....first off try a simple power cycle..remove the battery and keep poewr adapter in...then push power button down for 1 minute...then push the power button normally and might correct problem....if not check the brick the power adapter box for lights or warmth...if not warm it could be bad power adapter....if it has warmth and lights then it could be the battery...if you have a warranty on hte computer now would be a good time to call the warranty companie...but try those steps first...they are simple troubleshooting steps...
