Re: error code f-01
This motor does not have brushes fitted, the error code F01 indicates that the motor triac has shorted, this is part of the electronics that control the motor, it could possibly require a new main pcb, and/or new motor. If it is under 5 years old, then you are better off contacting Hotpoint, and getting it done under the 5 year part guarantee.

"Error F01" is indicating that the motor triac has short circuited on main PCB, this is part of the electronic speed control for the motor. You can do simple checks like motor connections/brushes etc.If the connections are seems to be perfect check the wiring whether it has continuity from motor to PCB. If there is no continuity then the PCB is faulty.
Hotpoint's advice is to call an engineer, it is not really a DIY repair, unless you have a good knowledge of electronics.

F01 on a
Washer Dryer means you have a motor fault. Check the motor and associated
wiring. You may just have a broken wire. Click on the link for more Hotpoint,

Error code F01 indicates a short circuit moTor triac.
This is part of the electronics that control the motor, it can be caused by worn brushes in the motor or a faulty pcb .
to check the motor brushes, remove the rear panel,, remove the belt and undo 2 screws that secure motor, lever motor back with a screwdriver or similar, unplug the motor leads , and remove the motor.
You will see the brushes at the armature end.
remove and inspect, you should see if they have shorted by discolouration of the armature.
If you clean the armature with emery paper and it looks o/k, then you can try fitting new brushes, but there is no guarantee that it will work,as the pcb may have shorted.
This being the case then it could be quite expensive to put right.

The next step should be the pump out. If it is not pumping check your pump filter for obstructions. Check the drain hose and also your drain in the wall. If all are clear you may have a bad pump. You should have an error code coming up when the machine stops also, please let me know what it is. Thanks and I hope I can FixYa.
Does the drum turn during the wash cycle?
When it comes to the spin cycle does it go through to the end without the drum turning?
It sounds like it could be the motor needs new carbon brushes.
