We have a Star TSP800 and when the last roll of paper ran out, we replaced it as we normally do. When we put a new roll in and shut the lid, the cutter usually comes across and the red error light switches...

Dear Star Customer

It sounds like you have a hardware issue. Please open the lid and take a photo of inside the printer and forward it to us at [email protected], it will help us find out what the problem it.

Star Wheel Motor has a problem.
01 code says "reseat/reconnect/clean and manually adjust" the motor.
The Star Wheel Motor is on the left side of the printer.
If you arn't trained on it, get someone who is, to service it.

The unit is not printing dark black anymore it is a light gray print out.

The problem is either in the toner cartrige or in the drum unit. Check both items or may be all in one cartridge. Try replacing.

Glass removal

pry off the control panel, remove the scanner cover, remove all the screws (usually star type) then the whole top section should come off. You should clean the scanner mirrors while you're in there.
