Keyboard/mouse functions frozen HP Pavilion dv6400

I loaded a wireless mouse program and now the on board mouse and keyboard do not funtion. When it boots it goes into error screen, gives three choices , 1. SAFE MODE, 2. SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING 3. START WINDOWS. My guess is that I have a driver conflict and I need to go back to the last known good menu, however, I can't get there the way it sits now, or I don't know how to. It will also boot into windows as well but again no keyboard or mouse funtions. Can someone help please?

Keyboard is frozen, mouse works but keyboard seems dead

Try an external USB keyboard or use the on-screen key board which is a feature of Windows - the mouse has to be working for the On-Screen keyboard to work. If any of these two remedies work, your Keyboard is bad.

If you want to check if the software is installed correctly and the keyboard is working fine try using the multimedia key. If you are able to use the multimedia keys for reducing and increasing the volume or mute the sound that means it is working fine.

If you are trying to configure the Favorite keys then you will have to select the buttons from the software and link it to the particular program of your choice.

Open the software application

Select the button that you want to configure

Click on the browse button to select the program of your choice to open with that button.

If you have a matched board and mouse you only need one and you have to press the button on the keboard then see if it types then do the same for the mousee push the mouse button down and it should connect. However this is for a matched set keyboard and mouse.

Sounds like your laptop keyboard and possibly the touchpad need to be replaced. You can order them through any authorized HP service center, or you can contact HP for out-of-warranty support if your laptop's warranty has expired.
